WWII Reenactment Registration Begins Next Week

Join us on Saturday, March 10 @ 10am as Bryce Kleeman teaches us about the two main theaters of the war, the European Theater of Operations (ETO) and the Pacific Theater of Operations (PTO), and reenacts their soldiers. Then explore the uniforms, equipment, field gear, and weaponry of several units in both theaters. Step back in time to become a PTO soldier in the US 25th Infantry Division during the Battle of Guadalcanal (1942-1943); the Australian Army's 7th Division; 25th Brigade during the early stages of the New Guinea Campaign (1942); and possibly even the USMC (United States Marine Corps). Then discover the ETO as a soldier in the US 4th Infantry Division during the landings on Utah Beach as part of the June 6, 1944 D-Day Invasion.

Learn some of the differences in the equipment issued to a soldier during the early stages of 1942 as compared to the final months of the war in 1945. Peruse mess kits, gas masks, field telephones, shovels, and helmets and maybe even try on a uniform! View American weapons such as the M1 Garland, one of the most iconic rifles of the war, and the Australian Lee Enfield No.5--known as the "Jungle Carbine."

Registration for Friends of the Library will begin on Tuesday, February 20 and registration for the general public will begin on Wednesday, February 21. Please call the library or stop by the Reference Desk to reserve your seat.
