A Civil War Reenactment is going on in Elmwood Gardens. Catherine Jewell, botanist and owner of Roses in Thyme watches a battle. After the battle she sees a body in the Goldenrod on the opposite side of the battlefield. The victim was hated making it hard for police chief John MacDougal to solve the murder.
