She wrote for school papers, a staff writing position on her high school newspaper, odd writing and editing jobs for newspapers and she was the editor of the US Navy's newspaper, The Skywriter, in NAF Atsugi, Japan. She was also the assistant to the editor at Scuba Times Magazine in Pensacola, Florida. Her love of writing soon turned to writing for children and young adults.
