Durenda has been married to Darryl for 31 years. He wanted two children and she wanted ten. They compromised at eight. Their kids were born between 1991 and 2004 and now range between 16 and 30 years old. Two have attended college and one graduated in 2016. She chose to home educate her children when her first one reached preschool and has never looked back. I love history and wrote the History of the 318 Field Hospital to honor my grandfather, Maj (Dr) Hugh Thomas Nelson, Jr., who I never met, as well as honoring his men. I traveled to France to see the land his unit operated and participated in the Great War.
