The Political Pope
By Neumayr, George
The untold story of the Left's efforts to politicize the Vatican and the battle to stop it - before the Catholic Church as we know it is destroyed. Pope Francis is the most liberal pope in the history of the Catholic Church. He is not only championing the causes of the global Left but also undermining centuries-old Catholic teaching and practice. In the words of the late radical Tom Hayden, his election was "more miraculous, if you will, than the rise of Barack Obama in 2008". But to Catholics in the pews, his pontificate is a source of alienation. It is a pontificate, at times, beyond parody: Francis is the first pope to approve of adultery, flirt with proposals to bless gay marriages and cohabitation, tell atheists not to convert, tell Catholics to not breed "like rabbits", praise the Koran, support a secularized Europe, and celebrate Martin Luther.

Life on the Mississippi
By Buck, Rinker
The eagerly awaited return of master American storyteller Rinker Buck, whose last book The Oregon Trail was a triumphant New York Times bestseller, Life on the Mississippi is another epic, enchanting blend of history and adventure in which Buck builds an authentic wooden flatboat from the early 1800s and pilots it down the Mississippi River, illuminating the forgotten past of the river and its grand "flatboat era" that dramatically expanded the country in the decades before Western expansion. In 2015, readers, critics, and booksellers across the country fell in love with a singular American voice: Rinker Buck, whose infectious curiosity about history launched him across the West in a covered wagon and propelled his book, The Oregon Trail, to ten weeks on the New York Times hardcover bestseller list.

Year One
By Roberts, Nora
I am going to recommend the "Chronicles of the One" trilogy by Nora Roberts: Year One, Of Blood and Bone, and The Rise of Magicks.
I listened to each book on audio and found that the producer was very good at keeping me hooked. Each disc ended with a situation that increased my involvement with the story and made me impatient to start the next disc.
Starting with Year One, the trilogy features a pandemic that kills the majority of the world’s population. The remaining US population mostly falls into two categories: people who want to make a new civilization, and people who give in their base desires (think Nazis). Let’s add in good and evil magick.
Our heroes have hope for a better world and work hard to make a civilization for all people (who obey the laws). This is what I enjoyed (besides the magick): the hope that we can have a civilization where we can get along with reduced biases and prejudice.
