Have you ever wanted something, pursued it (albeit not quite as gracefully as you would've hoped) , failed, and then genuinely asked yourself the question, "Am I delusional?" Well, that's how I began penning this magnum opus. Like the Buddhist's have their Tripitaka, you have ... moi. And my therapist, though it's unlikely she'll admit this in public. Fear not, as I cover everything from circumstantial etiquette to blissful delusion when necessary. And remember, be yourself, be kind, and all that jazz, unless you're a Susan*. If that's the case, try to be literally anyone else. Ugh, my therapist hates that I wrote that. Noun and verb. Unpleasant, annoying, and delusional, the Susan is somebody who is literally awful in every way, is liked by no one, but has no clue, no matter how many open clues you give her.

Reality Mining
By Eagle, Nathan
Big Data is made up of lots of little data: numbers entered into cell phones, addresses entered into GPS devices, visits to websites, online purchases, ATM transactions, and any other activity that leaves a digital trail. Although the abuse of Big Data -- surveillance, spying, hacking -- has made headlines, it shouldn't overshadow the abundant positive applications of Big Data. In Reality Mining, Nathan Eagle and Kate Greene cut through the hype and the headlines to explore the positive potential of Big Data, showing the ways in which the analysis of Big Data ("Reality Mining") can be used to improve human systems as varied as political polling and disease tracking, while considering user privacy.

Burn Book
By Swisher, Kara
From award-winning journalist Kara Swisher comes a witty, scathing, but fair accounting of the tech industry and its founders who wanted to change the world but broke it instead. While tech titans bragged they would "move fast and break things," Kara Swisher was moving faster and breaking news. Covering the explosion of the digital sector in the early 1990s, she developed a long track record of digging up and reporting the truth of this new world order. Her consistent scoops drove one CEO to accuse her of "listening in the heating ducts" and for Facebook's Sheryl Sandberg to once say: "It is a constant joke in the Valley when people write memos for them to say, 'I hope Kara never sees this.'"Burn Book is part memoir, part history and, most of all, a necessary recounting of tech's most powerful players.
