True
By Kennedy, Kostya
True is a probing, richly-detailed, unique biography of Jackie Robinson, one of baseball's -- and America's -- most significant figures.
For players, fans, managers, and executives, Jackie Robinson remains baseball's singular figure, the person who most profoundly extended, and continues to extend, the reach of the game. Beyond Ruth. Beyond Clemente. Beyond Aaron. Beyond the heroes of today. Now, a half-century since Robinson's death, letters come to his widow, Rachel, by the score. But Robinson's impact extended far beyond baseball: he opened the door for Black Americans to participate in other sports, and was a national figure who spoke and wrote eloquently about inequality.

Outliers
By Gladwell, Malcolm
Why do some people achieve so much more than others? Can they lie so far out of the ordinary? In this provocative and inspiring book, Malcolm Gladwell looks at everyone from rock stars to professional athletes, software billionaires to scientific geniuses, to show that the story of success is far more surprising, and far more fascinating, than we could ever have imagined. He reveals that it's as much about where we're from and what we do, as who we are - and that no one, not even a genius, ever makes it alone. Outliers will change the way you think about your own life story, and about what makes us all unique. 'Gladwell is not only a brilliant storyteller; he can see what those stories tell us, the lessons they contain' Guardian 'Malcolm Gladwell is a global phenomenon ...he has a genius for making everything he writes seem like an impossible adventure' Observer 'He is the best kind of writer - the kind who makes you feel like you're a genius, rather than he's a genius' The Times

Everything All at Once
By Nye, Bill
Bill Nye has been the public face of science for more than 20 years. In Everything All At Once, the New York Times bestselling author issues a call to arms meant to rouse everyone to become the change they want to see in the world. Whether addressing global warming, social change, or personal success, there are certain strategies that always get results: looking at the world with radical curiosity, being driven by a desire for a better future, and being willing to take the actions needed to make change a reality. With his signature humor and storytelling, Bill shares how he has developed specific techniques for what he calls the "everything all at once" lifestyle, from his childhood scouting adventures and his career at aerospace companies to the development of his famous Science Guy television show. This approach requires the nerd mindset: a way of thinking that leaves no stone unturned. It's about learning to solve problems through exploration, trial and error, and sheer creativity. Problem solving is a skill that anyone can harness to create change, and Bill Nye is here to show us how to sort out problems, recognize solutions, and join him in changing the world.

Gears of Revolution
By Savage, J Scott
It has been a week since Trenton and Kallista left their mountain city of Cove--now renamed "Discovery"--aboard their homemade mechanical dragon to search for Kallista's father, Leo Babbage. They find a compass and clues that point them towards a second underground city. Hoping to find Kallista's father there-and perhaps more information about the living dragons that ravaged the world-they head west, thinking they will find a thriving city like Discovery. Instead, they find only large swaths of blackened forest and the ruins of destroyed buildings, and a small civilization. Trenton and Kallista are quickly captured. They find themselves embroiled in a civil war between a clan of scavengers and hunters called Whipjacks, and the Order of the Beast, people who believe that dragons are divine and were sent to cleanse the world of evil. Trenton and Kallista learn that Leo is also being kept prisoner and that he is being forced to make weapons for the civil war. They try to free him but fail and are recaptured. Before they can be sacrificed by the Order of the Beast to the red dragon, they escape and travel back to Cove to warn them of an impending attack by both the Whipjacks and the Order of the Beast. The people of Discovery fight back, but they are outmatched. Trenton and Kallista manage to power up a laser beam that allows them to prevail, and the Whipjacks and members of the Order of the Beast are imprisoned. The citizens of Discovery have built two more mechanical dragons based on Leo's original blueprints, but they have been modified and are now armed with gunpowder weapons. However, more live dragons are showing up every day, so the people of Discovery decide to blast the mountain entrance closed for safety. But it is only a temporary measure, and Kallista, Trenton, Leo, and a few others must go in search of the source of the dragons to put an end to the threat once and for all.
