Food for Fines Week is April 5 - 10
Overdue fines keeping you from using the public library? Take care of them with canned goods from your pantry! For one week, patrons of the library system will have the option to bring in canned goods to pay off library fines. Not only will you be getting rid of some fines, but you will be helping your neighbor, too.
During National Library Week (April 5 - 10), every branch of the Rutherford County Library System will be collecting food donations. All donations will go to the Nourish (Rutherford County) Food Bank.
Bring your canned goods to front desk, and staff will waive your fines for overdue items. Charges for lost or damaged items or referral fees cannot be waived. Each can donated will waive one dollar in fines. Please bring only new, unopened cans within expiration date. No fines? You can help out and make a food donation anyway.
Since Nourish Food Bank is committed to helping provide for those in need, you can be sure that donations are going to a good cause. Remember: the library is ONLY collecting canned goods for the food drive.
To find out if you owe any fines, simply go to the RCLS website (rclstn.org) and login, using your library card number and PIN (typically the last six digits of your library card).
RUTHERFORD COUNTY LIBRARY FOUNDATION HOSTS A LIVELY EVENING ON MAIN
The Rutherford County Library Foundation invites you to join them in “A Lively Evening on Main”, their inaugural fundraiser. This outdoor affair will be held Saturday, May 1, from 6 – 10 p.m. at the historic Lively house at 746 East Main Street in Murfreesboro. Proceeds for this year’s event will benefit the Eagleville Bicentennial Public Library.
The Rutherford County Library Foundation was formed in 2001 as a means to fund long-term projects for the Rutherford County Library System (RCLS) beyond the scope of available public monies. Its goals are to enhance library services, be recognized as a venue for potential donors, maximize return on investments, and have a vehicle in place to aid in future capital projects, an example of which would be branch libraries in growth areas of the county.
RCLS is comprised of five branches and a bookmobile, serving the greater Rutherford County community. RCLS receives funding from three cities (Eagleville, Murfreesboro, and Smyrna) and Rutherford County, and is governed by the RCLS Board of Directors.
Visit rclstn.org to find out about sponsorships, purchase tickets, and more.
The Rutherford County Library Foundation is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization established as a public benefit organization.
