"Bookmarked" - A Subscription Box Service at the Library
Beginning in 2020, the library will begin offering subscription boxes for children, teens, and adults. Each box will contain a book or multiple books, with a few themed goodies, bookmarks, and more, all related to the chosen books. The box will be checked out for four weeks, at which point the books and box should be returned, but the goodies and any extras are yours to keep! The book selections will be a surprise up until the day the boxes are released. For children and teen the books will revolve around a monthly theme, whereas for adults the book will be a brand-new release of a hotly anticipated title. Advanced registration is required and you need not sign up for all the boxes - you can pick and choose which months you want. The adult boxes will also have an optional meet-up at a local establishment the month after the box is released to discuss the selection. Stay tuned and more details will follow within the next few months!
What's Happening at MPL
The Manchester Public Library has lots of programs for patrons of all ages, from author events to book clubs, storytime sessions to movie showings, informative lectures to fun crafts, and much more! Don't forget to check our calendar of events, especially if you are looking for something to do with the kids during school holidays or a reason to get out of the house on a cold or rainy day. New! Teen Book Chat
Calling all teen readers! This fall our Teen Librarian Michelle M started "Teen Book Chat", which focuses on a different type of book and topic each month. Previous topics have been WWII historical fiction, scary books, and stories on immigration. Teens can choose to read 1 of 5 pre-selected books on the chosen topic. There will be discussion on the books and light snacks will be provided. For more information, contact Reference at (860) 645-0821.
