Star Wars Fan Fest
This year's summer reading finale will be our biggest yet! Join us all day on Saturday, August 17, 2019 for our all ages Star Wars Fan Fest, being held at the Mary Cheney Library. Our Main Events are a Meet & Greet with the 501st Legion, Face Painting, Costume Parade and Group Photo, Story Time & Porg Craft, Jedi Training Lessons (ages 8+), Balloon Twisting & Crafts, Custom Fan Art, Paracord Keychain Craft, Pendant Necklace Craft, and Trivia with Prizes. We have even more events that are going on throughout the day, including additional crafts, Padawan Training, outdoor events in the park like mini golf and bean bag toss, the chance to learn Star Wars board games, and more! There will be four food trucks on site to keep hunger at bay while you explore all there is to offer, as well as the chance to shop for Star Wars themed goods at the vendors who will be set up in the park. Family-friendly appropriate cosplay is encouraged so come out in your best Star Wars gear! For additional details, please stop by the library or visit our website.
Playtime Backpacks Now Available
The fun Playtime Backpacks pictured below have just been added to our collection! Purchased with the Manchester Plays On grant, these backpacks are all themed and include toys and board books. They go out for four weeks and also have a suggested reading list inside as well as some play ideas. There are nine different bags to choose from: Block Play, I-Spy, Instruments, Water Play, Birthday Party, Dinosaurs, Let's Have a Picnic, Vehicles, and Zoo Animals. They can be put on hold and are renewable. Come find them at the Mary Cheney building in our children's room!
Did You Know? We Have Homebound Delivery Service!
Is a temporary or permanent illness or disability keeping you or someone you know from the library? Then consider our Homebound Delivery Service! Also known as "Bookmobile", this free service is available to Manchester residents who are homebound and unable to access our two library buildings. Bookmobile staff come directly to your home once a month to pick up and deliver materials such as books, audiobooks, movies, magazines, music CDs, and more. Daycare providers who are unable to visit the library buildings can have themed book kits delivered as well. Bookmobile staff take time to discuss your reading, listening, and viewing interests. You have the option of allowing staff to select materials for you or you can request specific titles (or a combination of both).
