"Band" Book Week

In honor of “Band” Book Week, not to be confused with Banned Book Week, MPL will be showing the film Shine a Light, on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at 6:00 p.m. in the Whiton Library auditorium. The Martin Scorsese film, Shine a Light is a career-spanning documentary on the Rolling Stones, with concert footage from their "A Bigger Bang" tour.  The film is rated PG-13 and has a run time of 2 hours. The evening will feature a drawing for a Lucky Taco and Barnes and Noble gift card and the original movie poster from Shine a Light ! In addition to the film showing, “Band” Book Week will run from September 19th through September 24th and will showcase the library’s collection of books on rock, pop, folk bands, and musicians. This program is free and registration is not required.  For more information please call 860-645-0821. Also, in honor of "Band" Book Week we will be having another program called "The Songs of Pete Seeger with Phil Rosenthal". Rosenthal will perform Seeger's most popular compositions, along with providing information about each song and its place in Seeger's career. The program will take place on Monday, September 19, 2016 at 6:30pm at the Whiton Library auditorium. In the spirit of Banned Book Week, starting in late September there will be a display of books frequently banned in America available for borrowing at the Mary Cheney building.
