Local Author Book Launch @ MPL

Manchester resident Megan Collins will be at Mary Cheney on Tuesday, February 5th to discuss her debut novel, The Winter Sister, which is being released by the major publisher Simon and Schuster on the same day. Collins will read from her book and talk about the writing and publishing process. Copies will be available for purchase and signing from That Book Store of Wethersfield on the night of the event.

The Winter Sister has already received critical acclaim from numerous sources. Kirkus Reviews described it as "a bewitching thriller with surprises detonating in nearly every chapter" and Booklist stated "while full of hand-clenching suspense, the novel's real strength comes from its study of relationships". The novel was also endorsed by New York Times bestselling author Megan Miranda.

Collins graduated from Boston University with an MFA in creative writing and has taught at Greater Hartford Academy of the Arts and Central Connecticut State University. Among having written for many print and online journals, she is also the managing editor of 3Elements Literary Review. Don't miss your chance to meet this local author on the rise!

A social worker from Connecticut Adoption Services, Jocelyn Benoit from the Adoption Assistance program at UConn Health, and Connecticut State Comptroller Kevin Lembo, as well as two Manchester staff librarians with experience in adoption, will speak on the many elements involved in adopting. Stay tuned for more information in the weeks to following.
