Celebrating Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

The third Monday of January is a U.S. federal holiday that commemorates the birthday (Jan. 15) of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  This day also celebrates Dr. King’s great life and worthwhile achievements. King was an influential American civil rights leader during the tumultuous sixties, an era of racial tension and social unrest.  He is renown for his campaigns to end racial segregation on public transportation and for racial equality in the United States.
