Adopt a Book

Many people have found great deals by browsing the on-going book sale of items located under the steps leading to the second floor.  Due to a large number of donations and some cleaning up of our library collection we now have some sale items on the shelves in our Community Room.

Browse through next time you're in the library and for a small donation you can give a used book a new home.

Money raised through book sales benefit the Friends of the Amhest Public Library.

Clipping File Now Online

Follow the local history tab on our library home page to have access to thousands of items that the library has scanned and uploaded to Ohio Memory Project in conjunction with the Ohio Historical Society.

Items to be provided as digital content have to follow rigorous, technical guidelines including type of scan, original format options, and picture resolution.  But what do you do with the boxes of odds and ends or copies of documents and newspaper clippings that are of local interest but don't qualify for digitization?

To solve this problem and open these files to local historians we have created an online clipping file to make these items accessible. These items are not available to the public at the library but on our online clipping file you can browse old newspaper clippings and view photos including our files on the 1916 Amherst Triple Train Wreck.

Check back often as we update this page and add new items.  You never know what you'll find.
