Happy (almost) spring!

Wow! I really enjoyed seeing lots of new faces at library events in February. It was a busy month, and I'm glad to have welcomed so many people to events at our libraries. Our cookie decorating class, Local Author Fair, and hosting Urban Jazz Coalition at the Black History Month Celebration were just a few of the highlights.

Our Paint Night events have become very popular. I noticed while assembling information for the newsletter that 6 of our 9 locations have paint events in March! Whether painting or something else, I hope to see you soon at one of our March events. If you ever have an idea for something you'd like to see at the library, just let me know. And as always, all of our events are free and open to the public, though some require registration.

In 2018, the Library of Congress launched By The People (crowd.loc.gov), a website to allow people from all over the country to help transcribe letters and other historical documents. At our Transcribe-a-Thon party, you'll learn how to use tools on the By The People site, and transcribe some documents with us. We'll also enjoy light refreshments.

To celebrate Women's History Month, we will transcribe some of the correspondence of Suffragists, from the time leading up to the passage of the 19th amendment in 1920.

Light on Yoga: Wednesday March 11, 9-10am (Myers Meeting Room)

Do you need a lighter approach to yoga? This 1-hr class can help you maintain flexibility and strength to prevent falls or fractures, slow down the aging process, treat your body compassionately after an injury and help your aching bones! Lung capacity is improved with yoga breathing exercises, and arthritis pain is reduced by gentle stretching.

This class is for beginners or yogis with limitations. It is also a wonderful class for mature yogis.
