Welcome to July

As July starts, we're half-way through Bookworm (our summer reading program). Many adults have already finished the reading challenge, Adena's healthy living challenge, or both, so there's still plenty of time to sign up if you haven't done so yet.

We're continuing our theme of A Universe of Stories, with some opportunities to share stories this month. Have a look at the calendar, and I hope to see you soon!

Stories from the Opioid Crisis

Main Library Annex - Room A, Tuesday July 16, 6pm

Using first-person stories from the book Not Far From Me: Stories of Opioids and Ohio, this event will feature an in-depth community discussion to encourage critical, historically-informed dialogue around opioid use with the aim of reducing stigma.

The goal of this conversation is to challenge our existing attitudes about who addiction affects. Using statistics on the opioid epidemic, along with a poem contributed by a social worker and substance abuse councelor, participants will explore the reach of opioids in Ohio.

Berkeley Franz and Dan Skinner, co-editors of the book Not Far From Me: Stories of Opioids and Ohio, will lead the activitiy.

Please come and be part of the conversation.
