Good afternoon Library friends,

A physically distant hello to all of you. Today is a big day for the library. This morning was the first day for drive-through pickups at our Northside Branch, and of course it's also the first day of Bookworm!

If you haven't done so yet, please visit our Bookworm page to get registered for our summer reading program. (Yes, it's for grown-ups too!) This year we're asking people to register and log their own progress online. Here's a video that walks you through registration. We'll have another one soon to show you how to log reading and active minutes. The goals for adults are 16 hours of reading and 16 hours of activity over the 8 weeks of Bookworm (about 20 minutes per day). We have some great prize drawings for logging your reading, plus everyone who reaches their goals will receive a completion certificate (for reading) and a water bottle (for activities). When you finish each challenge you will also be entered into the grand prize drawings. The Reading Challenge grand prize drawing will be for a Kindle Fire, and the Healthy Living Challenge grand prize drawing will be for a Fitbit. Thank you to Adena Health System for sponsoring our Healthy Living Challenge again this year, and providing those great prizes.

This month, we will continue to offer virtual programming. Some events will be live-streamed on Facebook and YouTube. While you can watch these any time, the best experience will be during the live video when you can ask questions and we'll answer them in the video. Other events will take place via Zoom. Please be sure to register for these events, so we can send you the Zoom invitation.

Some of our events in June:

Monday June 1, 6pm: Bookworm Kickoff Party. Our Youth Services Department does a great job with this party every year, and while it's designed for kids, I did want to mention it here too. (Streaming on Facebook and YouTube)

Wednesday June 3 and June 17, 3pm: Virtual Cooking Class with Johnna from OSU - Ross County Extension. If you have a young chef in your life, tune in on alternating weeks for kids' cooking classes. (Streaming on Facebook and YouTube)

Monday June 8, 4pm: Virtual Gardening Class with Ross from Ohio State - Ross County Extension will show us how to identify weeds and other pests that you might find in your garden. (Streaming on Facebook and YouTube, but if you register you can also join in the broadcast to ask questions.)

Monday June 15, 6pm: Bring the Farm to You will show us all about bees and beekeeping. I'm looking forward to this all-ages class. (Streaming on Facebook and YouTube)

Wednesday June 17, noon: Virtual Brown Bag Book Club. Please register here for the invite information. We will be discussing Michael Zapada's The Lost Book of Adana Moreau. Both the eBook and eAudiobook are available from Hoopla with no waiting list. (Zoom meeting - registration required)

Monday June 22, 7pm: Virtual Adult Game Night. BYOB (Bring your own book) for this fun game night. (Zoom meeting - registration required)

Tuesday June 30, 6:30pm: Didgeridoo Down Under Concert. Didgeridoo Down Under is a high-energy, Australian-Themed show that combines music, culture, comedy, character building, and storytelling in this all-ages show. In July, Didgeridoo Down Under will also be joining us for a Didgeridoo workshop, so keep an eye out for that! (Streaming on Facebook and YouTube)

Please free to contact me with any questions or suggestions about virtual programming. I look forward to seeing you all soon. Take care.
