August is National Peach Month

It’s time to celebrate Peach Month–and that’s just peachy! In 1982 President Ronald Regan declared August as National Peach Month. National Peach Month recognizes the fuzzy stone fruit that provides us with a bounty of sweet goodness all summer long! Not only is the entire month dedicated to peaches, but August 22nd is Eat a Peach Day and August 24th is National Peach Pie Day. So, whether you enjoy the fresh fruit or baking them into a dessert, this month is for you. Peach month was created as the perfect time to enjoy and appreciate everything that has to do with this delicious fruit. Whether growing them, eating them or reading about them, peaches are the juicy theme of this warm, summer month!

Other things happening in August:

National Watermelon Day is August 3
Thanks to it being around 92% water, watermelon is tasty and refreshing on a hot summer day. In honor of National Watermelon Day, cut yourself some pieces of this pink fruit. And look up some recipes that use the melon, such as watermelon lemonade or watermelon feta salad, for a refreshing summer treat.

National S'mores Day is August 10

This campfire classic is perfectly delicious in its original form with graham crackers, milk chocolate, and toasted marshmallows. There are tons of tasty twists on s'mores out there, too. Try adding sliced strawberries, bananas, or raspberries, or go all out with a smear of Nutella for National S'mores Day.

National Waffle Day is August 24
Waffles are quite versatile. There are the obvious waffles with butter and syrup for breakfast. But there also are chicken and waffles for lunch or a burger with all the fixings sandwiched between two waffles for dinner. Also, you can try making an ice cream sandwich with homemade waffles. There’s no better time to try some inventive waffle concoctions than National Waffle Day.
