Silhouette Cameo 3 Training in the Makerspace

The Parsippany Library now owns a Silhouette Cameo 3 with editing software that enables the user to create endless possibilities to cut on paper, fabric, or heat transfer material.

We will be scheduling one hour training sessions over the summer if you are interested in learning more about the Silhouette.  Training is for ages 14 and up.


Choose from one of the following dates:

August 13 - 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

August 16 - 1 pm to 4 pm 

August 20 - 9:30 am to 12:30 pm

August 28 - 1 pm to 4 pm

Zumba for Kids

Learn some new moves and have fun exercising with Zumba!  No registration required.  Comfortable clothes and shoes recommended.



  Virtual Tour of the Moon

Astronomy expert Bob Reichman will provide families with a virtual tour of the moon. 
Registration is not required, but only the first 100 children with an admission ticket will be admitted to this program.  Beginning at 6:30pm on July 26, stop by the Children's Desk for an admission ticket.  This program is sponspored by the Friends of the Parsippany Library and ADP.

The Music, Bubble, and Comedy Show: Born to Read

Ages 2 and older

This is a high-energy performance by Turtle Dance Music about why libraries rock! The show engages children of all ages with songs, comedy, bubbles, music technology and is crafted also for children on the Autism Spectrum. Each song is accompanied by hands-on, visual, and sensory experiences designed to help kids learn and have fun at the same time. Kids will dance, sing, and understand why libraries are so important for our future. Parents and caregivers are also welcome to join the fun.

Come in as a family to decorate two rocks to put in a random public place for someone to see. Make someone else in our community feel good!

Wear sneakers and comfortable clothes for some fun summer dance and exercise! Limited to the first 22 children; free tickets distributed at the Children’s Desk between 3:30-3:45pm. No admittance after 3:55pm!

See amazing live animals, and learn how to keep your community clean so our animal friends can live safely! No admittance after 7:10pm!  Registration begins July 26 at 7 p.m.

Tech Thursdays
Summer is here and with that comes vacations. If you need help sharing your vacation photos or loading up your tablet with books for the beach, we can help you. Drop-in tech help will be held at the Main Library from 2:00pm-4:00pm on Thursdays.


Great American Read Book Discussion

Participants are welcome to read The Help and join the discussion and decide if it qualifies for America's Favorite Book.  Register online at or call 973-887-5150 x209 to sign up for the book discussions.  Books can be picked up at the Main Library, 449 Halsey Road.

This film is rated PG13 and runs approximately 2 hours and 30 minutes.

Not sure what to do with the kids during those last two weeks of August?

The Friends of the Parsippany Library have partnered with Mad Science and Dawn Lau Dance Company to offer Parsippany students the opportunity to participate in half-day science and arts camps, with $20 of each registration going back to the Friends of the Parsippany Library.  

Camp will be offered at the Main Library, 449 Halsey Road. 

The Friends will donate this money to the library for the purchase of additional children's programming and materials.

Registration is required for this activity.  You must have a completed permission form to attend.
Forms can be downloaded when you register or picked up in Teen Central at the Main Library.



eBorg Robotics

August 6-8


Grades 6-12

This three-day workshop will introduce Robotics and Engineering, groups will program motors and sensors and individuals will have an opportunity to build a demo robot from kit including assembling and programming. You must attend all three days.
