Summer Reading has started!

 

Children and teens from birth to age 18 are encouraged to join the Summer Reading Club by picking up a reading log at one of our libraries.  We will have fun activities for all ages all summer long!

 




As of July 5, Tech Tuesday is now Tech Thursday! Summer is here and with that comes vacations. If you need help sharing your vacation photos or loading up your tablet with books for the beach, we can help you. Drop-in tech help will be held at the Main Library from 2:00pm-4:00pm on Thursdays.

Movie Night: A Wrinkle in Time (rated PG)

Children under the age of 9 must be accompanied by an adult for the entire movie.  No registration required.

 

 

Zumba for Kids

Have fun learning new moves and exercising with Zumba!  No registration required.  Comfortable clothing and sneakers are recommended.

If you like Peppa Pig and her friends, come to this special storytime!  We will read Peppa stories and make a Peppa craft.

 

 

LEGO Mindstorm Robotics

June 26, 6:30pm-8:00pm (Entering Grades 4-5 in September)

June 28, 6:30pm-8:00pm (Entering Grades 6-7 in September)

Use your STEM abilities to put together a LEGO Mindstorm Robot!  Registration is not required to attend, but space is limited.  We will only be accepting the first 8 children to arrive to particpate.  Check in at the Children's Desk from 6:15pm-6:30pm to pick up a free program ticket for admittance into the program.  No one will be admitted after 6:40pm.

 

 

Hocus Pocus, It's Joe Fischer! Magic Show

July 12

Ages 4 and older

Come explore the phenomenon that was The Beatles - their growth, originality, musical innovations, and lyrical depth.  Barry Wiesenfeld, musician, author, and profressor of music is coming to share his passion for The Beatles and explore why their music enjoys such longevity.

 

 

 

Great American Read Book Discussion

Participants are welcome to read one or both books, join the discussion, and decide if either qualifies for America's Favorite Book.  Register online at parsippanylibrary.org or call 973-887-5150 x209 to sign up for the book discussions.  Books can be picked up at the Main Library, 449 Halsey Road.

The Musical History of the 50's -- From Dino to Doo-Wop

Reminisce and listen to the music, the entertainers, and the stories form the era music historians call "the decade of music that changed the world."  Joey G. will take us on a musical journey back to the 1950's, where the musical trends evolved from Big Band to Pop to Rock 'N Roll.

 



Friends of the Library 

 

 

Not sure what to do with the kids during those last two weeks of August?

The Friends of the Parsippany Library have partnered with Mad Science and Dawn Lau Dance Company to offer Parsippany students the opportunity to participate in half-day science and arts camps, with $20 of each registration going back to the Friends of the Parsippany Library.  

Camp will be offered at both the Main Library and Lake Hiawatha locations.  Be sure to choose the information specific to your desired location.  

The Friends will donate this money to the library for the purchase of additional children's programming and materials.
