The Main Library will be open on Sunday, June 10 from 1:00pm-5:00pm.  After June 10, our Sunday hours will resume in September.

 


 

Vinyasa Yoga

Join us on the following Tuesdays:

June 5 and 12

6:00pm-7:00pm

Rebecca Manci, a certified yoga instructor, will teach one-hour vinyasa yoga classes.  Vinyasa yoga connects breath and movement to create an experience that is balanced both mentally and physically.

All levels are welcome.  Please bring a yoga mat to class.  Registration is not required, but there is a $5.00 fee per class.


 



Science Fair at Lake Hiawatha

Students entering grades 1-7 in September are invited to particpate in a Science Fair at the Lake Hiawatha Branch, 68 Nokomis Avenue.  The Science Fair will be held on Saturday, July 14 from 11:00am-12:30pm.  In order to participate, students must complete an application, available at the Lake Hiawatha Children's Department.  Applications are due on June 22.


Summer Reading Club

Libraries Rock is this year's Summer Reading theme.  Children and teens from birth to age 18 are encouraged to join the Summer Reading Club by picking up a reading log beginning on June 21 at any of our three locations.

Science Fiction and Fantasy Evening Book Discussion Group

A new book club is starting at the Parsippany Library!  The Science Fiction adn Fantasy Book Discussion Group will meet once a month to discuss new and old titles.  Our first book will be Year Zero by Rob Reid.

Heirloom Refinishing: Making Furniture as Good as Old

Herb Stocknoff of Heirloom Refinishing in Rockaway, NJ, will share 40 years of experience in refinishing fine furniture.
He will display a refinishing job in progress and dispel some myths of furniture refinishing, including what to refinish and what to leave untouched.

Upcoming Events

 

Not sure what to do with the kids during those last two weeks of August?

The Friends of the Parsippany Library have partnered with Mad Science and Dawn Lau Dance Company to offer Parsippany students the opportunity to participate in half-day science and arts camps, with $20 of each registration going back to the Friends of the Parsippany Library.  

Camp will be offered at both the Main Library and Lake Hiawatha locations.  Be sure to choose the information specific to your desired location.  

The Friends will donate this money to the library for the purchase of additional children's programming and materials.
