New at our libraries: Playaway Launchpads for Kids!

 

The Parsippany-Troy Hills Library System now has Launchpads for customers to borrow.  Launchpads are pre-loaded learning tablets which may be borrowed for two weeks.  Late fees are $1.00 per day and these items cannot be renewed.  The following Launchpads are available through our libraries:

Study Buddies provides homework help at the Main Library!

Does your child need help with homework or studying? High school students will assist elementary school students with homework or to study for a test. The Study Buddies sessions are held at the Main Library, 449 Halsey Road, Parsippany on select Mondays and Wednesdays.  Registration is required.  Please register for this program by clicking here.

Sphero Robots Trivia Challenge

December 14 OR December 21

4:00pm-4:45pm 

Grades 3-5

Test your knowledge by answering trivia questions by learning how to roll your Sphero to the correct answer!  Each child must have a smartphone or tablet to downlaod the free Sphero app.  If you do not have a device, please let us know beforehand.  Registration is required.  We will be offering this program twice; you may only register your child onceRegistration for December 14 opens on November 30 at 4:00pm; registration for December 21 opens on December 7 at 4:00pm.

 


 

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten

1,000 Books Before Kindergarten is an early literacy program that encourages parents and caregivers to read 1,000 books with their children prior to the start of kindergarten. 

To participate, stop by the Children’s Desk at either the Main Library or Lake Hiawatha Branch for an information packet.  More information can be found online at http://1000booksbeforekindergarten.org/

Become a Friend of the Library!

Every library needs a volunteer group and the Parsippany-Troy Hills Public Library System is no exception! The purpose of the Friends of the Parsippany Library, a 501C3 organization, is to raise money for special library programs and collections of library materials. 

The Friends also serve as advocates for the library and support any legislation that benefits libraries.

The Library Board and administration are looking for Friends members as well as Friends officers. Friends members are 18 years of age and older and pay an annual donation of $15 or more.

Financial Literacy for Teens - Becoming an Informed Investor

Grades 6-12

Learn how you can become an informed investor and make your money work for you!  Learn about the financial market, how to invest responsibly, and avoid scams. 
  
This program is sponsored by the Investor Advocacy Project (IAP) of Seton Hall University School of Law.  The mission of IAP is to raise awareness of the importance of financial literacy through presentations in communities around the state, so that individuals may make more informed investment decisions.
 

For students in grades 6-12, but adults who are beginner investors are welcome to attend.  Registration is required.  Click here to register online.

 

 

Speed Math

Ever felt trapped without a calculator? You are not alone. Most students are dependent on a calculator for all kinds of math questions – even the simple ones. Well, not anymore! In this interactive Speed Math class, learn some nifty math techniques that can help you do multiplication, division, squaring and even cubing of numbers mentally. Amaze your math teachers with this skill and ace your math class. Parents are welcome to join.
 

This program is run by Accel Learning, Parsippany (https://parsippany.accellearning.com). Accel Learning is a center for Math Olympiads and Math Kangaroo training and contests.
