10 Kid-Friendly Waterfall Hikes in Southern Oregon

Southern Oregon is an amazing place for any outdoor enthusiast, and summer is the perfect time to enjoy the awesome beauty of our local waterfalls. Lanessa Pierce, owner of What to do in Southern Oregon, will provide tips on how to prepare for a hike with kids, where to go, and how to get there as the next topic of the Guild Lecture Series.

All about Owls

All about Owls with John Jackson of Bugs-R-Us

Looking to get up close and personal with owls? Well, you will not want to miss John Jackson's "All about Owls" program! Get "up close and personal" with real owl pellets. Play detective with latex gloves, tweezers, and magnifying glasses to find out what the owls eat.

Participants are invited to keep whatever or whomever they find inside the pellets. We will also discuss owls in teh environment and the part they play in the food-web cycle. This program includes hands-on time with a taxidermied barn owl and fun with owl calls.

Decorate a bird house to take home on Tuesday, August 1 from 2:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Ashland Library.

Create a magical gnome or fairy house for your garden on Wednesday, August 2 from 1:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the White City Library.

Shadow Puppet Show

Interactive Storytelling and Shadow Puppet Workshop

Create an original story and reenact it as a shadow puppet play in this all-ages program on Tuesday, July 18 from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. at the Ashland Library.

Lost but Found

Lost but Found with Jackson County Search and Rescue

Learn the essentials of safe hiking and participate in a mock rescue. Pre-registration is required for this all-ages program on Saturday, July 22 from 10:00 a.m. - 12 noon at the White City Library

Environmental Ed Presents "Beavers"

Learn about Oregon's state animal at this all-ages program on Wednesday, July 19 from 3:00 - 4:00 p.m. at the Shady Cove Library.

Clearance Book Sale

Giant Book Clearance Event

Thousands of donated books and materials will be available at the Giant Book Clearance event at the Medford Library.

This year's event is the largest yet, featuring three rooms of books. At this special "sale" event, shoppers can take all the books they like and leave a donation of their choice. Proceeds from the event will help the Friends of the Medford Library provide library programs and services. For more information visit medfordfriends.org
