ScienceWorks at the Library

ScienceWorks: Build a Better World at Your Library

We've teamed up with ScienceWorks to offer free, hands-on STEM challenges for kids ages 5-14 this summer. Build skyscrapers out of doweling, construct amazing mazes for marbles, and design rockets for out-of-this-world adventure. Sessions are limited to 30 participants, so pre-registration at each library is required.

STEM programs at the Library

STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) programs for kids and teens:

YA 'Rock Art' Sculpture

Young Adult "Rock Art" Sculptures

Teens can create a rock art sculpture inspired by Ugo Rondinone's colorful large-scale public artwork, "Seven Magic Mountains," located in the desert outside of Las Vegas. For this program, teens will select 5-7 rocks just the right size and shape to stack and balance, then paint them with acrylics and glow-in-the-dark paint for a magical nighttime effect. For ages 12-18 only.

Be sure to check out all of our arts and crafts programs - there's something for everyone!

West African Drumming & Folktales

West African Drumming & Folktales

Experience the beauty of West African drumming and learn the fundamentals and stylistic intricacies of the music in this free, all-ages program. Laura Rich will discuss the cultural histories of each rhythm and read folktales from West Africa, while welcoming participation with gentle encouragement and patience.
