Are you doing all you can to prevent getting you and your loved ones sick? Learn about the many ways to minimize your risk to food borne illness, including the proper temperatures to cook food to, what cross-contamination is, what high-risk foods certain groups of people should avoid, where items should be placed in the refrigerator, and more. Chair Yoga. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, 10:15 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Join our volunteer teacher for an all new Chair Yoga program! A signed liability waiver is required. The fitness goals for this program are to improve balance and increase endurance, flexibility, and range of motion. The class is taught in seated and standing positions using a chair as a prop. Research shows that people with Parkinson's Disease can benefit from activities such as Chair Yoga. Please bring water and wear comfortable clothing. If you wish to relax on the floor for the final pose, feel free to bring a yoga mat, towel or blanket.

Read with Charlie. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, 1:00 p.m. – 1:15 p.m. and 1:30 p.m. – 1:45 p.m. Join our newest reading dog, Charlie! Reading dogs help children develop the skills they need to read in a relaxed environment. You can bring your own book or read one of ours. Please call the library at 813-929-1214 to schedule your spot. Charlie will be available for 15-minute increments. A signed waiver is required. Registration opens weekly.

Toys for Tots Painting. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. Join us to paint wooden toys that will be donated to Toys for Tots! Our woodworking volunteers have been hard at work making custom wooden toys in our foundry, and now we are in search of artistic individuals to make them beautiful and colorful! The session will be led by our resident artist, Jayde. Have fun painting while making a child's day! Teens may also earn volunteer hours for participating. No donation to the organization is necessary, and all supplies are provided. Registration and safety forms required.

Anime Club. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Join us on the first Tuesday of every month to check out the latest anime and learn about Japanese culture. Ages: 12-18

Chess Club. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, 6:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m. Join us every Tuesday for our weekly chess club meeting! Each week participants will meet to learn the basics of the game and practice playing. If you register for one class, you will be automatically registered for each week. Ages: 12+

Master Gardener Seminar- Learn How to Start Plants from Cuttings. Tuesday, September 4, 2018, 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Get started propagating your own plants. This is a hands-on workshop presented by an experienced Master Gardener. Please bring gardening scissors or pruners and gloves so you will be ready to actively participate in this FREE UF/IFAS Pasco County Extension seminar. Registration required.

Cooking Matters in Your Community. Thursday, September 6, 2018, 10:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. The Family and Consumer Sciences Agent from UF/Pasco County Extension will be teaching this 4-week program.  Topics include how to identify whole grains vs. refined grains, reading food labels, healthy fast food options, and more! Learn all about nutrition and healthy eating while sampling easy and healthy recipe ideas.  These workshops are free, and those who attend will receive free giveaway items and be entered into a drawing.
