Etegami Painting Class. Tuesday, March 14, 2017, 1:00 p.m. – 3:30 p.m. Join us for an introductory class in etegami. Etegami is a Japanese folk art consisting of simple hand-painted drawings accompanied by a few apt words, and they are almost always done on postcards. It's fun. Try it! Class is limited to 12. Supplies are provided. Paid for by the Friends of the Hudson Library.

Sewing Basics 101. Saturday, March 18, 2017, 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. In this class patrons will become familiar with the sewing machine and practice by stitching a small craft item! Come learn about all the different parts of the machine and how they are used, including: the feed dogs, presser feet, and bobbin. We will get a lot of practice on the machine, doing things like: threading the machines needle and bobbin, and other basics, as well as sewing lines and curves, and different spacing. Ages 9+. Women’s History Month Film. Saturday, March 18, 2017, 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. Join us to watch a documentary about Shirley Chisholm and her campaign for the presidency in 1972. In 1968, Shirley Chisholm becomes the first black woman elected to Congress. In 1972, she becomes the first black woman to run for President. Shunned by the political establishment, she's supported by a motley crew of blacks, feminists, and young voters. Their campaign-trail adventures are frenzied, fierce, and fundamentally right on! Her story reminds all Americans that, in Chisholm's words, "the institutions of this country belong to all of the people who inhabit it."
