English Conversation Group. Wednesday, May 17, 2023. 2:00 p.m. — 3:30 p.m. 
This is a fun, casual atmosphere to practice and improve your English. Speakers of all levels are welcome. We have a new topic for every meeting. Toddler Storytime (Session 1). Tuesday, May 16, 2023, 10: 15 a.m. — 10:45 a.m.  
This program is for children ages 1 to 3 and includes stories, songs, and activities based on the foundations of early literacy — read, write, sing, talk, play. The room will be limited to 20 children per session. Please stop at the Service Desk upon arrival to get a ticket to for the session of your choosing. Tickets are available day of and are first come, first serve.  

Toddler Storytime (Session 2). Tuesday, May 16, 2023, 11:00 a.m. — 11:45 a.m.  
This program is identical to the storytime at 11:00 am and is for children ages 1 to 3. It includes stories, songs, and activities based on the foundations of early literacy — read, write, sing, talk, play. The room will be limited to 20 children per session. Please stop at the Service Desk upon arrival to get a ticket to for the session of your choosing. Tickets are available day of and are first come, first serve.   

After School Gaming. Tuesday, May 16, 2023, 3:30 p.m. — 4:00 p.m. 
Game with us after school! Video and tabletop games will be available. 

Baby Storytime. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 10:15 a.m. — 10:45 a.m.  
This lap-sit program is meant to instill the love of reading in children at an early age. It is suitable for babies up to 1-year-old and their caregiver(s). Registration is no longer required for this program.  

Master Gardener Seminar: Hummingbirds. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 11:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m. 
How to attract the unique birds into your yard. Learn the best plants, trees, and shrubs these birds like. Learn about feeders, water, and insects needed for hummingbirds. 

DIY Floral Spring Wreath. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 1:30 p.m. — 3:00 p.m. 
Create your own floral wreath for the spring season! All supplies provided. This is an adult program for ages 18+. Register below by clicking view more or by calling the library at 727-815-7126. Register HERE. 

Get Caught Reading Bash for Teens. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 6:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m. 
Teens, have you read anything good lately? Now’s a good time if any to pick up a book. Why? Because May is Get Caught Reading Month. So come celebrate at the library with us. All books (and teens) are welcome.  Important note: This program is for teens, grades 8-12. Masks are recommended, but not required. 

Preschool Storytime. Thursday, May 18, 2023, 10:15 a.m. — 10:45 a.m.   
This storytime is recommended for children (ages 3-5) along with their caregiver. Registration begins two weeks prior to the program. Important Note: Registration is required for each child in attendance.  Masks are recommended but not required. Register HERE. 

Throwback Thursday with Seniors in Service. Thursday, May 18, 2023, 11:00 a.m. — 12:30 p.m. 
Do you remember what life was like in the 1950's and '60s? Come reminisce with us! We'll enjoy light refreshments, watch fun videos, and share our favorite memories from the past. Presented by Seniors in Service. Register HERE. 

Guardian Ad Litem Information Session. Thursday, May 18, 2023, 1:30 p.m. — 2:30 p.m. 
Be a Child’s Voice, Change a Child’s Story! There are currently over 1,000 children in Pasco County in the foster care system.  Hundreds of these abused, neglected and abandoned children are still waiting for someone to be their voice. YOU can make a lifelong difference for a child by becoming a Guardian ad Litem. We invite you to attend an information session at the Starkey Ranch TLC to learn more about how you can help. After School Perler Beads. Thursday, May 18, 2023, 3:30 p.m. — 4:00 p.m. 
Join us after school to make perler bead creations! Follow a template or free style! 

Adult Open Studio Painting. Thursday, May 18, 2023, 5:30 p.m. — 7:30 p.m. 
Join us for Adult Open Studio! This is a self-guided program where participants can freely explore the medium of painting. Materials will be provided, but feel free to bring your own if you'd like. Walk-ins welcome any time during Open Studio. A staff member or volunteer will be present to guide any beginners. Open to all skill levels. Register HERE.

Kids Lego Open Build. Saturday, May 20, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m. 
Drop in for some Lego building fun! Bring a friend or family member. Use our Lego building blocks to create your own masterpiece. 

DIY Ceramic Spoon Rest. Saturday, May 20, 2023. 2:00 p.m. — 4:00 p.m. 
In this class, we will use basic hand building techniques to construct a spoon rest! This program is for ages 16+. All supplies are provided and registration is required. Part 2 of the class on June 3 @ 2 PM will be for glazing your piece. Participants must be able to attend both classes.   A signed Pasco County Libraries Safety Waiver is required for participation and can be filled out the day of the class. Register HERE.

Caribbean Chillers at Starkey Ranch Theatre. Saturday, May 20, 2023, 5:30 p.m. — 8:30 p.m. 
Join us for an exciting evening of fun and music featuring a FREE performance by The Caribbean Chillers, "Florida's Favorite Jimmy Buffet Tribute Show." The pre-party begins with Seven Springs Steel Drum Band from 5:30pm-6:30pm. The Caribbean Chillers are set to take the main theatre stage at 7:00 p.m. We will have Pina Colada Mocktails and tons of fun for the whole family to experience at our Starkey Ranch Theatre Cultural Center! Seating will be first come, first served. Concessions available for purchase through our Friends of the Starkey Ranch Library.

The Friends of the Library is a non-profit group that supports library programs for all ages. Please join us to learn more about this important organization. 

Adult Painted Mason Jar Luminaries. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 2:00 p.m. — 3:00 p.m. 
Adults join us as we paint your mason jar to turn into a luminary. We will provide paint and a battery powered light for your jars plus provide examples of creations you could make! We will also have supplies to make a TBR jar to place all your future read in to help you decide what to read next. 

Friends of the Library Spring Book Sale. Saturday, May 20 — Saturday, May 27, 2023 
Come check out the Friends of the Hudson Library Spring Book Sale. All proceeds go to the Friends, and in return, they very kindly sponsor all of our fun library programs. Stop by for a chance to give back to the community and find your next great read! 

Teen Crochet Basics. Thursday, May 18, 2023, 4:00 p.m. — 5:00 p.m. 
Teens join us for crochet basics! We will go over how to hold a crochet hook, how to hold yarn, learn to chain and potentially a single crochet depending on if time allows. If you are experienced in crochet please note that this is a beginner class, you are welcome to join to brush up on the basics, but we will be starting from scratch. For teens in grades 8-12

Master Gardeners: Florida-Friendly Alternatives to Invasive Plants. Monday, May 15, 2023, 2:00 p.m. — 3:00 p.m. 
"Plant This, Not That: Florida-Friendly Alternatives to Invasive Plants" - how to avoid adding in invasive plants to your landscape. Just because a plant is available at your favorite plant nursery or garden-supply store, doesn't mean that it should necessarily be used in your landscaping - it could be an invasive plant species that could quickly spread into other areas, becoming an ecological and economic nightmare. Invasive plants are regularly found for sale in Florida and should be avoided as landscaping plants for the benefit of the environment. Join in this informative talk to learn best-choices of Florida-Friendly landscape plants and about the invasive plants that should be avoided for landscaping. Learn how to create a beautiful landscape that grows in harmony with its natural surroundings. 

Photo Scanning by Appointment. Tuesday, May 16, 10:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m.  
By popular demand, we've opened up our Loft to another day of photo scanning! Friday mornings we will have our Loft doors open for patrons who already know how to use our photo scanners. If you're just getting started, please make an appointment for a Tuesday instead when a team member is available to assist. Learn to Paint and Draw (Better): Found Object. Tuesday, May 16, 5:30 p.m. — 7:30 p.m.  
In May we will develop our understanding of concept, storytelling through images and planning a work of art. Sarah will guide the class though developing their own creative process. We will be learning how to draw an object using an artist's view finder, how to choose the best angle, how to use color choice and lighting to tell the story, etc. Students will be free to decide which media they want to use for their final piece. Questions are welcome, community is encouraged. Materials are provided. If you register and are unable to make it, please notify the library at least 48 hours in advance to be considerate of others. Join us for a paint pouring session!  Please note:  artwork will take up to 24 hours to dry, so you will need to pick up your creation the next afternoon. Register HERE.

Teen Art: Paint Pouring. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 3:30 p.m. — 5:30 p.m. 
Come to the loft to experiment with paint pouring. Create your own work of art with canvas and paint provided. PLEASE NOTE: This can take up to 24 hours for it to dry, attendees will most likely leave their creations in the loft to dry before being able to take home. Register HERE.

Jump Start Summer Loft Event. Thursday, May 18, 2023, All Day 
Join us for a special event to JumpStart Your Summer. A little taste of what's going to be going on in the Loft this summer. An event for all ages, lasting all day long. Bring your whole family, so all can enjoy! 

Free Studio Space in the Loft. Friday, May 19, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m. 
Looking for a space to work on your creative projects? Our Loft Makerspace is dedicated to providing access to practice and education of studio arts, crafts, textiles and photo digitization. We offer classes for all ages and encourage the belief that anyone can make art you just have to start! Every Friday we have tables available for artist reservation. Spread out your materials and soak up the atmosphere of our Loft makerspace. Reservations are for six hours (you can come anytime in that window) and our space will host up to four artists at one time. Sign up online or call during library open hours. Yes, you read that right! "Lettuce" come together and prepare for the end of the school year with a relaxing evening of lo-fi music, a lettuce themed clay trinket dish, and some mindfulness exercises from an instructor. Join our volunteers for chess. This club is open to all ages and abilities. Are you interested in learning to play? Our volunteers can teach you. Already know how but need someone to play against? Join us on Tuesday evenings in the Adult Multipurpose Room C from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Chess sets are provided, or you are welcome to bring your own.  

Beginner Mahjong. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m.

Join our volunteer, Margarita. Participants will need to have some previous crochet experience. This is a time to bring your own project and meet with others who enjoy crocheting.  Registration starts two weeks prior to the event. This group is for ages 23 years and older. The project this month will be a magazine rack. This event is for youth ages 9-15 years old. Fabric Arts Open Build. Wednesday, May 17, 2023, 3:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m. 
Participants will be able to work on their own projects related to sewing, weaving, knitting, crocheting, etc. In general, participants will need to bring their own materials. We can help with repairs or assist with new projects. If you made beads with Corinne on Saturday, this is a great time to finish your project — make a bracelet, necklace, keychain... We will supply those materials. At this time, we have materials available to make a reusable bag from a feedbag, corner fabric bookmarks, etc. A volunteer or staff person will be available to assist with sewing machines. This activity is intended for ages 18 years & older or ages 9 years & older with a parent or guardian. All Makerspace activities require completed safety and waiver forms. Foundry Open Build. Thursday, May 18, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 1:00 p.m.   
This activity is intended for ages 18 years and older (or youth ages 9+ with an accompanying guardian). Open Build is an opportunity to use our tools to work on your approved project. Volunteers or staff will be present to assist. Plan to bring your own materials. While supplies last, you can also make an appointment to build a bluebird house, turn a pen, or make a rolling pin.
