SYSTEMWIDE VIRTUAL & OUTREACH PROGRAMS 

English Conversation Class. Friday, May 12, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 11:30 a.m. 
Practice your English-speaking skills in a group on Zoom. This is a fun, casual atmosphere to practice and improve your English. Speakers of all levels are welcome. We have a new topic for every meeting. The class will be hosted by Claudia from the South Holiday Library. Please call or email the South Holiday Library for more information and to register. Craft Club. Monday, May 8, 2023, 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.  
Join us once a month for craft club! Join other crafters in a creative space to either work on your own projects, or use our supplies/equipment. Register HERE. 

Teen Open Studio. Sunday, May 7, 2:00 p.m. — 4:00 p.m. 
What has free art supplies and offers you a welcoming space to create? That's right! You guessed it, Teen Open Studio. While at this self-guided program, we encourage you to express yourself in any number of ways. Walk-ins are welcome at any time during this open studio. Important note: This program is for teens, grades 8-12. Masks are recommended, but not required. 

Toddler Storytime (Session 1). Tuesday, May 9, 2023, 10: 15 a.m. — 10:45 a.m. 
This program is for children ages 1 to 3 and includes stories, songs, and activities based on the foundations of early literacy - read, write, sing, talk, play. The room will be limited to 20 children per session. Please stop at the Service Desk upon arrival to get a ticket to for the session of your choosing. Tickets are available day of and are first come, first serve. 

Toddler Storytime (Session 2). Tuesday, May 9, 2023, 11:00 a.m. — 11:45 a.m. 
This program is identical to the storytime at 11:00 am and is for children ages 1 to 3. It includes stories, songs, and activities based on the foundations of early literacy - read, write, sing, talk, play. The room will be limited to 20 children per session. Please stop at the Service Desk upon arrival to get a ticket to for the session of your choosing. Tickets are available day of and are first come, first serve. 

Tween Hangout. Tuesday, May 9, 2023, 3:30 p.m. — 4:00 p.m. 
Do you like team challenges, crafts, or games? The opportunity to earn prizes? Join us after school! 

Building Confident Kids. Tuesday, May 9, 2023, 4:00 p.m. — 5:00 p.m. 
Join us at the library as we discuss ways to help your child form healthy self-esteem. This workshop will be led by area mental health professionals. Following the presentation, there will be a brief Q&A. Attendees are welcome to bring their children, who will participate in a separate, accompanying activity during the program. Register HERE.

Baby Storytime. Wednesday, May 10, 2023, 10:15 a.m. — 10:45 a.m. 
This lap-sit program is meant to instill the love of reading in children at an early age. It is suitable for babies up to 1-year-old and their caregiver(s). Registration is no longer required for this program. 

Homeschool Sewing for Beginners. Wednesday, May 10, 2023, 10:30 a.m. — 12:30 p.m. 
Join us as we make a sunglasses sleeve! All materials will be provided. Beginning homeschool sewers will practice using pins, sewing on a machine, ironing, and more. This class is for ages 9 years and older. Register HERE.

Preschool Storytime. Thursday, May 11, 2023, 10:15 a.m. — 10:45 a.m.  
This storytime is recommended for children (ages 3-5) along with their caregiver. Registration begins two weeks prior to the program. Important Note: Registration is required for each child in attendance.  Masks are recommended but not required. Register HERE. 

Seniors in Service. Thursday, May 11, 2023, 11:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m. 
Stop by the lobby between 11 am and 2 pm to speak to a representative from Seniors in Service to learn more about their organization and how to get involved! 

After School Painting. Thursday, May 11, 2023, 3:30 p.m. — 4:00 p.m. 
Join us after school in the heron room to paint! Create your own masterpiece and socialize with your peers. 
 
Tween Jewelry Workshop. Thursday, May 11, 2023, 6:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m. 
Tweens in grades 4-7, join us for a jewelry workshop! We will be handmaking rings and going over some of the basics of wire wrapping.  Make a ring for yourself or a loved one! Registration required. Register HERE.
 
West Pasco Historical Society: The History of New Port Richey. Thursday, May 11, 2023, 6:30 p.m. — 7:30 p.m. 
It's National Preservation Month! Join Tomás Monzón, the curator of the West Pasco Historical Society, for a presentation of historical photos and a discussion on the founding of New Port Richey. Join us as we explore the history of Tampa Bay's newest "it" city, which was once slated to become the "Hollywood of the East. Register HERE.

Teen Perler Beads. Thursday, May 11, 2023, 4:00 p.m. — 5:00 p.m. 
Teens stop by the library and make some perler bead creations! Perler beads are small plastic beads that you can put on a pegboard and melt to form a design. We will provide the peg boards, beads, and iron, you just attend with your creativity and ideas! This program is for teens grades 8-12, no library card is required to attend this event.

Learn to Paint and Draw (Better): Found Object. Tuesday, May 9, 5:30 p.m. — 7:30 p.m. 
In May we will develop our understanding of concept, storytelling through images and planning a work of art. Sarah will guide the class though developing their own creative process. We will be learning how to draw an object using an artist's view finder, how to choose the best angle, how to use color choice and lighting to tell the story, etc. Students will be free to decide which media they want to use for their final piece. Questions are welcome, community is encouraged. Materials are provided. If you register and are unable to make it, please notify the library at least 48 hours in advance to be considerate of others. Free Studio Space in the Loft. Friday, May 12, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m. 
Looking for a space to work on your creative projects? Our Loft Makerspace is dedicated to providing access to practice and education of studio arts, crafts, textiles, and photo digitization. We offer classes for all ages and encourage the belief that anyone can make art you just have to start! Every Friday we have tables available for artist reservation. Spread out your materials and soak up the atmosphere of our Loft makerspace. Reservations are for six hours (you can come anytime in that window), and our space will host up to four artists at one time. Sign up online or call during library open hours. Ages 23 and up. Looking to try out a new art or craft but are worried about the cost? Come by the library to pickup some supplies to discover something you love! Our Free Art Closet is a supply closet dedicated to making art accessible to all. Supplies available include yarn, knitting needles, crochet hooks, brushes, paint, art books, and more! The closet will be open every second Saturday and third Thursday.

This class is open to adults and ages 9 and older with little or no sewing machine experience. Learn to thread the machine, learn to sew seams of different sizes as well as curved seams, etc. All Makerspace activities require completed safety and waiver forms. Tai Chi. Wednesday, May 10, 2023, 6:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m. 
Join us for a Tai Chi class with Bonnie Birdsall. This class brings all your physiological systems from digestion, cardiovascular, respiration, immunity and mental activity up to a higher level in a gentle and low impact manner. Benefits of practicing include: greater flexibility, core stability, improved balance, less fatigue, and reduced stress. This program is sponsored by the Friends of the Land O' Lakes Library. Join our volunteers, Ray and James, for an Open Build just for teens. This activity is intended for ages 13-19 years old. Open Build is an opportunity to use our tools to work on your approved project. If working on a special project please plan to bring your own materials. Volunteers or staff will be present to assist. While supplies last you can also build a bluebird house, turn a pen, or make a rolling pin. All Makerspace activities require completed safety and waiver forms. For anyone under the age of 18 these forms need to be completed by a parent or guardian.  These can be acquired at the Service Desk prior to your scheduled time. Corinne's Crafts. Saturday, May 13, 2023, 10:30 a.m. — 12:00 p.m. 
Join our volunteer, Corinne, to make paper beads. Amazing beads can be made from a variety of papers including craft paper, newspaper, and old magazines. Make enough for your own necklace, bracelet or other project. All materials will be provided. This class is for adults and youth aged 9 years and older.  Once the beads are dry you can use them to make key chains, bracelets, etc. Sign up for the Wed. May 17th  Fabric Arts Open Build to make your creations here or use your beads at home. Elastic, key rings, etc. will be provided at that event. Register HERE.
