Join us on Zoom as we meet and discuss The Dark Remains by William McIlvanney and Ian Rankin. Please pick up the book at the New River Library anytime, or at the Dade City Senior Center on Mon and Wed. between 10-2:30 PM. Toddler Storytime (Session 1). Tuesday, April 11, 2023, 10: 15 a.m. — 10:45 a.m.
This program is for children ages 1 to 3 and includes stories, songs, and activities based on the foundations of early literacy - read, write, sing, talk, play. 
The room will be limited to 20 children per session. Please stop at the Service Desk upon arrival to get a ticket to for the session of your choosing. Tickets are available day of and are first come, first serve.

Toddler Storytime (Session 2). Tuesday, April 11, 2023, 11:00 a.m. — 11:45 a.m.
This program is identical to the storytime at 11:00 am and is for children ages 1 to 3. It includes stories, songs, and activities based on the foundations of early literacy - read, write, sing, talk, play. 
The room will be limited to 20 children per session. Please stop at the Service Desk upon arrival to get a ticket to for the session of your choosing. Tickets are available day of and are first come, first serve.

After School Gaming. Tuesday, April 11, 2023, 3:30 p.m. — 4:00 p.m.
Game with us after school! Video and tabletop games will be available.

Baby Storytime. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, 10:15 a.m. — 10:45 a.m.
This lap-sit program is meant to instill the love of reading in children at an early age. It is suitable for babies up to 1-year-old and their caregiver(s). Registration is no longer required for this program.

Homeschool Sewing for Beginners. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, 10:30 a.m. — 12:30 p.m.
Join us as we make felt bookmarks! All materials will be provided. Beginning sewers will practice using pins, sewing on a machine, ironing, and more. This class is for ages 9 years and older (including adults).

Blackout Poetry for Teens. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, 6:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m.
Teens, each year National Poetry Month is celebrated in April. During this program, you will learn about blackout poetry. This fun, creative way of expressing yourself involves using previously written text to compose your own poem.
Note: This program is for teens in grades 8-12. All supplies will be provided. Masks are recommended but not required.

Gulfside Hospice Volunteer Outreach. Thursday, April 13, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m.
Stop by the lobby in our library to learn more about how you can volunteer with Gulfside Healthcare Services.

Preschool Storytime. Thursday, April 13, 2023, 10:15 a.m. — 10:45 a.m.
This storytime is recommended for children (ages 3-5) along with their caregiver. Registration begins two weeks prior to the program.
Important Note: Registration is required for each child in attendance.

Community Plant Swap. Saturday, April 15, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m.
Join us for our first ever Community Plant Swap! Exchange small plant cuttings, succulents, cacti, trees, fruit/veggie plants, houseplants and more with other plant lovers, or drop off a plant you no longer need! Please bring your own bags and/or boxes. This program will be held on the patio in front of the building. No registration required.

Kids Lego Open Build. Saturday, April 15, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m.
Drop in for some Lego building fun! Bring a friend or family member. Try some of our challenges or just use our Lego blocks to build your own creations.

Yvonne & Graciano - Musical Performance. Saturday, April 15, 2023, 2:00 p.m. — 3:00 p.m.
Live music is BACK! Join us for a wonderful hour of music performed by Yvonne and Graciano. Both Yvonne and Grciano were born in Cape Verde Island and before adopting the US as their new home country, they lived in Senegal, Portugal, and France. Their music is diverse and has African/Latin/European roots, virtually an international spectrum of sounds and rhythms.
This program is free and open to all, but seating is limited.

Learn to Paint and Draw (Better): Color. Tuesday, April 11, 2023, 5:30 p.m. — 7:30 p.m.
Join Earthchild Sarah every week as she teaches the basics of painting and drawing.
April is all about color. We will be working towards and impressionist painting. Learn how the color wheel works, why it's not the full story, how to mix paint, how to build color in layers and more.
Complete beginners to intermediate artists can come get expert guidance from someone who has been in the arts for nearly four decades. Learn how to improve your technique in watercolor, acrylics, pastels, graphite, charcoal, mixed media and more. We also cover the fundamentals of drawing such as composition, color, proportions, shading, texture etc. You can work on the suggested projects and exercises or bring in your art for advice and guidance on how to improve. Questions are welcome, community is encouraged. Materials are provided.

Free Studio Space in the Loft. Friday, April 14, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 5:00 p.m.
Looking for a space to work on your creative projects? Our Loft Makerspace is dedicated to providing access to practice and education of studio arts, crafts, textiles, and photo digitization. We offer classes for all ages and encourage the belief that anyone can make art you just have to start! Every Friday we have tables available for artist reservation. Spread out your materials and soak up the atmosphere of our Loft makerspace. Reservations are for six hours (you can come anytime in that window), and our space will host up to four artists at one time. Sign up online or call during library open hours. Ages 16+

Tai Chi. Wednesday, April 12, 2023, 6:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m.
Join us for a Tai Chi class with Bonnie Birdsall. This class brings all your physiological systems from digestion, cardiovascular, respiration, immunity, and mental activity up to a higher level in a gentle and low impact manner. Benefits of practicing include: greater flexibility, core stability, improved balance, less fatigue, and reduced stress.

In preparation for our big Gaming event on Sat. May 6th we are making our own giant Jenga set. This project is intended for teens (ages 13-18 years old) to learn some basic woodworking skills. Join our volunteers as we cut, sand, and paint our own Jenga set for use at the library. This project will take place over a few weeks. You may sign up for one or all of the times available.  Teen volunteers may receive volunteer hours for this service.
