This lap-sit program is meant to instill the love of reading in children at an early age. It is suitable for babies up to 1-year-old and their caregiver(s).

This program is intended for children ages 1 to 3 and includes stories, songs, and activities. 

Tween Hangout. Tuesday, January 31, 2023, 3:30 p.m. — 4:00 p.m.
Do you like team challenges, crafts, or games? The opportunity to earn prizes? Join us after school in the courtyard! 

Preschool Storytime. Thursday, February 2, 2023, 10:15 a.m.—10:45 a.m. & 11:15 a.m. — 11:45 a.m.
This storytime is recommended for children (ages 3-5) along with their caregiver. Registration begins two weeks prior to the program.
Important Note: Registration is required for each child in attendance.
Masks are recommended but not required.

Drop in for some Lego building fun! Bring a friend or family member. Try some of our challenges or just use our Lego blocks to build your own creations.

Join us as we make upcycled tote bags. All materials will be provided. Beginning sewers will practice using pins, sewing on a machine, ironing... This class is for ages 9 years and older.

Come learn the basics of how to stay safe when handling technology, and some strategies you can implement today to make yourself safer online! We'll cover some common scams you may encounter when shopping online, ways your information may be at risk, and what you can do about it.

The Master Gardeners of the Pasco County Extension Office will be in the lobby to answer your specific gardening questions.

Teen Advisory Board. Thursday, February 2, 2023, 4:00 p.m. — 5:00 p.m.

Movement and Meditation. Saturday, February 4, 2023, 9:45 a.m. — 12:00 p.m.
The Exploring Movement and Meditation class will blend yoga, Pilates, calisthenics, and mediation. Please bring two light weights (2-5 pounds) and a yoga mat.  If you don't have these items, you can bring a towel/blanket and two water bottles.  The class will meet outside the library at 9:45am for a warm-up walk. If you do not wish to walk, you can join the class inside the library at 10:30am.

Florida Fish & Wildlife Talk. Saturday, February 4, 2023, 2:00 p.m. — 3:00 p.m.
Florida is home to an amazing array of fish, wildlife, and the habitats in which they live and thrive. With over 700 terrestrial animals, more than 200 freshwater fish, more than 1,000 marine fish, numerous other aquatic and marine vertebrates, and many thousands of terrestrial insects and other invertebrates, Florida literally is teeming with wildlife. Come learn about these amazing creatures from a Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission representative.

Tuesday mornings we will have our Loft doors open for patrons who already know how to use our photo scanners. If you're just getting started, please make an appointment for a Tuesday afternoon instead. This is when a team member can be made available to assist.

Tuesday appointments are intended for beginners who need some guidance with using our photo scanners. Join us on the last Tuesday of the month for Family Game Night. The whole family can choose a board/card game and play inside the library.

Storytime with Miss Cindy : Stuffies. Wednesday, February 1, 2023, 10:15 a.m. — 11:00 a.m.
Join Miss Cindy for songs, stories, and crafts in our beautifully renovated Children's Room. All the stories will be about cozy stuffed friends. The craft will be a paper build a bear. Attendance limited; registration is strongly recommended.

Join our teacher, Dianne Orcher, for Chair Yoga. This yoga class is beginner friendly and taught in seated and standing positions using a chair as a prop. The fitness goals for this program are to improve balance and increase resilience, endurance, flexibility, and range of motion.

Master Gardener: Florida Arbor Day. Wednesday, February 1, 2023, 6:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m.
Join us for this Master Gardener class at the Land O Lakes library with a guest speaker. We will be discussing a brief history of state and national arbor days as well as advice on selecting and planting trees.

Introduction to Machine Sewing for New Sewists. Saturday, February 4, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 11:00 a.m.
This class is for anyone ages 9 and older who has not previously used a sewing machine. Participants will learn to thread a machine, fill a bobbin, sew straight, zigzag, and curvy lines. They will learn the names of some of the basic sewing tools and use an iron. There will not be a project at this class as it is introductory.
Registration as well as both safety and waiver forms are required. A guardian needs to sign all forms for minors. These forms can be acquired before the class at the Service Desk.

New River Library is offering an informal get-together on Saturday afternoons.  Trained tutors will be there to help with any of these skills, whether English is a second language to you or English is your first language, but you want to read or write better. This course is open to drivers 50 and older.  Space is limited.  Registration is required.

You will learn:  Defensive driving techniques - Proven safety strategies - New traffic laws and rules of the road
Plus, there are no tests to pass. You simply sign up and learn. Upon Completion you could receive a 3-year discount on your car insurance.
