Join us online as we meet and discuss The Vanishing Half by Brit Bennett. Please pick up the book at the New River Library anytime, or at the Dade City Senior Center on Monday or Wednesday between 10 AM and 2:30 PM.

English Conversation Group. Wednesday, January 25, 2023, 2:00 p.m. — 3:00 p.m. & Friday, January 27, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 11:30 a.m.
Practice your English-speaking skills in a group on Zoom. This is a fun, casual atmosphere to practice and improve your English. Speakers of all levels are welcome. We have a new topic for every meeting. The class will be hosted by Claudia from the South Holiday Library. Horror Book Club. Thursday, January 26, 2023, 6:00 p.m.—7:00 p.m.
Join us for the next meeting of the Horror Book Club! The group will meet virtually via Zoom. This book club will read and discuss horror books both contemporary and classic and primarily use Hoopla Digital for digital copies of the books. Due to the nature of the content, this book club will be for adults only.
For January's meeting, we will read "The Ones That Got Away," a short story collection from Stephen Graham Jones.

Join us the last Saturday of every month for Painting Open Studio! You may register for 1 of 2 sessions: 10am-11am or 11am-12pm. Wet paintings can be picked up after the program. We will supply all materials - all you have to do is bring your creativity -- and be sure to wear clothing you don't mind getting a little messy! Open to all ages.

Medicare Basics with SHINE. Tuesday, January 24, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 11:00 a.m.
SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) is a free program offered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and the Area Agency on Aging of Pasco & Pinellas. Specially trained volunteers can assist you with your Medicare, Medicaid, and Health insurance questions by providing one-on-one counseling and information.
All SHINE services are free, unbiased, and confidential.

Photo Scanning by Appointment. Tuesday, January 24, 2023, 2023, 10:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m.
Are you interested in digitizing your family photos? Are you wondering what's on those negatives in the closet shoe box?
Tuesday mornings we will have our Loft doors open for patrons who already know how to use our photo scanners. If you're just getting started, please make an appointment for a Tuesday afternoon instead. This is when a team member can be made available to assist.

Teens: TEENy Art-Sculpture Night. Tuesday, January 24, 2023, 4:00 p.m. — 5:00 p.m.
It's your BIG chance to make something "teeny"! Teens in grades 4-7 are invited to this program to learn about different sculpture methods and styles, and make something all your own. After the program, leave your art at the library and be featured in a "teeny art" display. *Registration is required for this program.

Introduction to Machine Sewing for Junior Sewists. Monday, January 23, 2023, 10:30 a.m. — 11:30 a.m.
This class is for homeschooled youth between the ages of 9-18 years who have not previously used a sewing machine. Participants will learn to thread a machine, fill a bobbin, sew straight, zigzag, and curvy lines. They will learn the names of some of the basic sewing tools and use an iron. There will not be a project at this class as it is introductory.
Registration as well as both safety and waiver forms are required. A guardian needs to sign all forms for minors. These forms can be acquired before the class at the Service Desk.

This activity is intended for ages 18 years and older. Open Build is an opportunity to use our tools to work on your approved project. Volunteers or staff will be present to assist. Plan to bring your own materials.
