Practice your English-speaking skills in a group on Zoom. This is a fun, casual atmosphere to practice and improve your English. Speakers of all levels are welcome. This lap-sit program is meant to instill the love of reading in children at an early age. It is suitable for babies up to 1-year-old and their caregiver(s). Registration begins 2 weeks prior to the program.

There are currently over 1,000 children in Pasco County in the foster care system.  Hundreds of these abused, neglected and abandoned children are still waiting for someone to be their voice.  YOU can make a lifelong difference for a child by becoming a Guardian ad Litem.  We invite you to attend an information session at the Starkey Ranch TLC to learn more about how you can help.

Attention, teens! Ever wondered what it takes to become a registered voter? Join us to learn all about the process with special guest, Brian E. Corley, Pasco County's Supervisor of Elections.

Lego Open Build. Saturday, September 17, 2022, 10:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m.
Drop in for some Lego building fun! Bring a friend or family member. Try some of our challenges or just use our Lego blocks to build your own creations. Masks recommended.

Sewing for Beginners. Saturday, September 17, 2022, 2:00 p.m. — 3:30 p.m.
Join us to create a carpenter's apron- useful for sewing, crafting, gardening, etc. All supplies will be provided. This class is for beginning sewers. We will be practicing measuring, cutting, and using basic sewing tools. Sewing machines will be utilized for this project.
This class is for ages 9 years and older. Safety and Waiver forms are required. A guardian /parent must complete the form for anyone under the age of 18. Forms can be picked up at the Service Desk before the class.

Designed specifically for the first-time novelist, this in-depth, 4-week course will take you from developing ideas for your story to plotting, character development, pacing, dialogue, point-of-view, and more. The course also covers the next steps after your first draft is complete: Editing/proofreading, traditional vs. self-publishing, and marketing your book. Taught by award-winning local author, and library staffer, Robert Harrison will inspire you to start – and finish – that novel you’ve always wanted to write, and publish it! Poetry Reading & Discussion with Dr. Sweeney. Monday, September 12, 2022, 6:00 p.m.—7:30 p.m.
Join us for a poetry reading from Kate Sweeney's newest collection of poems and a discussion on the art of poetry. Dr. Kate Sweeney is the author of Better Accidents (Yellow Jacket Press, 2009) and Worrisome Creatures (Madville Publishing, 2022). Her work has appeared in many literary magazines, such as Best New Poets 2009Hayden’s FerryMeridianTampa Review, and Poet Lore, among others. She holds her PhD in English from Binghamton University, MFA in poetry from the University of Florida, and MA in English from Kansas State University. She is an English professor and writing center coordinator at Keiser University—New Port Richey. She also teaches writing classes for the non-profit Keep St. Pete Lit.
