English language tutoring is available one-on-one via ZOOM.  30-minute appointments are offered Tuesday and Thursday mornings and afternoons, and Wednesday afternoons. Registration required. Practice your English-speaking skills in a group on Zoom. This is a fun, casual atmosphere to practice and improve your English. Speakers of all levels are welcome. We have a new topic for every meeting. The class will be hosted by Claudia from the South Holiday Library. Baby Storytime. Tuesday, September 6, 2022, 10:15 a.m. — 10:45 a.m.
This lap-sit program is meant to instill the love of reading in children at an early age. It is suitable for babies up to 1-year-old and their caregiver(s). Registration begins 2 weeks prior to the program.
Important Note: Only a single registration under the baby's name is needed.

This program is intended for toddlers (ages two to three) along with their caregiver. Registration begins 2 weeks prior to the event.

Medicare Basics with SHINE. Saturday, September 10, 2022, 10:00 a.m. — 11:00 a.m.
Medicare Basics with SHINE provides an overview of the different parts of Medicare including Parts A, B, C, D, Medigap, and available financial assistance. SHINE (Serving Health Insurance Needs of Elders) is a free program offered by the Florida Department of Elder Affairs and the Area Agency on Aging of Pasco & Pinellas. Specially trained volunteers can assist you with your Medicare, Medicaid, and health insurance questions by providing one-on-one counseling and information. SHINE services are free, unbiased, and confidential.

The Lit Club: The Day the World Came to Town. Saturday, September 10, 2022, 10:30 a.m. — 11:30 a.m.
Join us in person for The Lit Club, Starkey Ranch TLC's monthly book discussion group for adults. Our September read is The Day the World Came to Town by Jim DeFede. Pick up a print copy from the service desk or borrow the ebook from Libby or Hoopla with your library card. We will be meeting outdoors in the TLC Courtyard.

Cultivating Calm and Connection - Meditation Group. Saturday, September 10, 2022, 2:00 p.m. — 3:00 p.m.
Are you ready to awaken more joy, compassion, and freedom in your life? Learn how mindfulness and meditation can help you do this. Join us as we discuss the book The Wise Heart by Jack Kornfield. It is available on Hoopla as a digital audiobook. We will also meditate together.
Everyone is invited to join our meditation group. No experience necessary. The intention of this group is to help you start a meditation practice or deepen the one you already have by providing encouragement and support. We provide a safe place to engage in mindful discussions that will help you cultivate and grow your practice. Each month we will focus on an aspect of mindfulness, discuss our monthly book selection, and meditate together.

Designed specifically for the first-time novelist, this in-depth, 4-week course will take you from developing ideas for your story to plotting, character development, pacing, dialogue, point-of-view, and more. The course also covers the next steps after your first draft is complete: Editing/proofreading, traditional vs. self-publishing, and marketing your book. Taught by award-winning local author, and library staffer, Robert Harrison will inspire you to start – and finish – that novel you’ve always wanted to write, and publish it!
