Repurposed Collages. Tuesday, July 19, 2022, 11:00 a.m. — 12:30 p.m.
Join us for a collage workshop to discuss how "A Day at the Beach" may be fun for us, but our friends in the ocean may receive an unwanted surprise if we leave things behind. We will learn how ocean life survives and thrives and ways that we can help that along, and also how things we leave behind can harm ocean life.
Each participant will make their own collage using repurposed items, or "things left behind at the beach" to create an ocean animal! All supplies provided. Ages 8+.

Master Gardener Seminar: Bonsai. Wednesday, July 20, 2022, 11:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m.
The Master Gardeners of the Pasco County Cooperative Extension office will cover a fascinating introduction to the art of Bonsai, a unique combination of Horticulture and Art. It will include some history, basic supplies, techniques including the specifics of growing Bonsai in Florida.

Summer Reading Program: Grades K-5 - Unusual Fish. Wednesday, July 20, 2022, 11:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m.
July 20th's activities will be about unusual fish. Learn about fish with unusual characteristics that live in the ocean. Create your own strange fish collage with magazine photos, paper, and other materials. Use colored pencils to bring color to underwater scenes.

Cultivating Calm and Connection - Meditation Group. Wednesday, July 20, 2022, 6:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m.
Interested in learning about Zazen meditation? Join us as we discuss the classic book Zen Mind, Beginner's Mind by Shunryu Suzuki. You will learn about Zen Buddhism, Zazen meditation, and how to live life with a beginner's mind. The book is available on Hoopla as a digital audiobook.
Everyone is invited to join our meditation group. No experience necessary. The intention of this group is to help you start a meditation practice or deepen the one you already have by providing encouragement and support. We provide a safe place to engage in mindful discussions that will help you cultivate and grow your practice. Each month we will focus on an aspect of mindfulness, discuss our monthly book selection, and meditate together.

This storytime is recommended for children (ages 3-5) along with their caregiver. Registration for this program begins two weeks prior and is required for each child.

A Day at the Beach Coasters. Thursday, July 21, 2022, 2:00 p.m. — 3:00 p.m.
Calling all tweens and teens, join us as we celebrate summer and design our own coasters.
Registration is required to attend this program. Masks are recommended but not required.

Piece by Piece: Puzzle Competition. Thursday, July 21, 2022, 6:00 p.m. — 7:00 p.m.
Teams of up to 5 players will race against the clock to finish an identical 500-piece ocean themed puzzle! The winning team will receive a prize!

Pottery Making for Beginners. Friday, July 22, 2022, 10:00 a.m. — 2:00 p.m.
Make an appointment to learn the basics of throwing pottery on a wheel. Appointments are available for 2-hour time slots, from 10am-12pm, and 12pm-2pm. Safety and Liability waivers must be completed prior. Ages 16+ welcome.

Summer Sewing for Beginners. Saturday, July 23, 2022, 2:00 p.m. — 3:30 p.m.
Join us to create a shark pincushion and button jar. All supplies will be provided. This class is for beginning sewers. This is a great way to start your own collection of sewing supplies. We will use basic sewing tools and practice simple skills: cutting, sewing by hand, gathering, and a bonus-using a hot glue gun.
This class is for ages 9 years and older. Safety and Waiver forms are required. A guardian /parent must complete the form for anyone under the age of 18. Forms can be picked up at the Service Desk before the class.

Shark/Turtle Tracker. Wednesday, June 1, 2022 — Sunday, July 31, 2022.
Join us as we track sharks and sea turtles all summer long to see where they travel. Each animal has a distinct color so you can track their travels throughout the summer. Guess how far they've traveled and be entered to win your favorite animal.
Tracking information is gathered from the Ocearch and Sea Turtle Conservatory websites. Information about both is available at the library.

Jr. Master Gardener Summer Program. Tuesday, July 19, 2022, 10:00 a.m. — 12:30 p.m.
UF/IFAS Pasco County Cooperative Extension Service is offering a Jr. Master Gardener Youth Education series starting July 19, 2022. One session will be taught each Tuesday through July 236, 2022. A secondary registration with 4-H Online will be required to secure your child’s spot. Upon class registration and payment, you will receive further instructions concerning the secondary registration. Each session will run from 10:00a.m.-12:30p.m. at the Hudson Library. Cost for the program, including all activity materials, instruction, and books is $60/child.

STEAM Submarine: Ocean A.I. Coding (K-3). Thursday, July 21, 2022, 11:00 a.m. — 12:00 p.m.
This week we will use the mobile computer lab to participate in an ocean-themed artificial intelligence coding lesson through code.org.  This program will consist of short instructional videos about artificial intelligence and hands-on coding activities to train the A.I. bot to determine what belongs in the ocean!

This class is for anyone 9 years or older with minimal sewing experience. Participants will complete a project to practice the skills learned in the first class: threading a machine, filling a bobbin, sewing as well as cutting and ironing. They will use basic sewing tools. Space is limited. Registration required. Same-day registration okay if space available.
Registration as well as both safety and waiver forms are required. If you have taken a previous Makerspace class your safety and waiver forms will be attached to your library card account. If you have not completed the forms, you can do so anytime at the information desk or before the class.

Join Happy Holli for a one-hour puppet building workshop filled with imagination.  All materials for building puppets are provided.  Once built, the puppets are brought to life using creative dramatic techniques for all to enjoy.  Everyone leaves with their own "fin"tastic friend!
FREE program for children (and their caregivers) in Grades K-5.  No registration required.  Program will be held next door to the Zephyrhills Public Library at City Hall.
