February 22nd is the 100th birth anniversary of Robert Wadlow. Born in Alton, Illinois in 1918, Wadlow was the tallest man in recorded history at 8 feet 11.1 inches tall. His friendly, gentle manner in the face of continuous public attention earned him the nickname “Gentle Giant.” For more information on Robert Wadlow, come browse our collection or search our online catalog.
 
The library has been stepping up its display game! From National Soup Month to Celebrating 200 Years of Illinois History, we’ve got a variety of intriguing displays. We update our displays often, so make sure to stop by and check them out!
 
Join us Sunday, February 18th to view the National Museum of African Americans on Stamps. This traveling museum will be on display in the community meeting room from 2:00 - 4:30 pm. Drop in to check out the collection and hear from the museum’s curator, Charlene Blair. Blair has amassed her stamp collection for over 26 years and has turned her hobby into a non-profit organization. This program is free and no registration is required.  
 
Did you know that the checkout period for magazines has changed? Magazines now have a one week checkout period to ensure faster circulation of current issues.
