SUMMER READING STARTS
Summer reading programs have started for both children and adults.  The ELFs have paid for many of the children’s programs - $4600 worth!  We have also given $736.68 for the adult programs.  Reading by Design is the theme for this year’s programs.

 

ELF “THANK YOU” LUNCH
Hopefully you were able to attend the annual thank-you luncheon the library planned for the ELFs on Friday, May 19th.  Our assistant director Cary gave a power point explanation of how books are added to our collection.  Then fun entertainment was presented by the 60’s Chicks, singing oldies from the 60’s.  A delicious luncheon was provided and each person received a tablet of notepaper with the ELF logo.  We are a valuable part of the library and they appreciate all the members do to help in Carnegie’s and with our monies for various purchases. 

 

If you’re a VIP member, be sure to turn in your card and receive your gift for this year – a handy umbrella!

 

COMING IN JULY
July 13th will be the Thursday night that the ELFs will provide the refreshments at the concession stand as the Edwardsville Municipal Band plays the weekly concert in City Park. 
             
This is our one big fundraiser!   We will be needing volunteers to work that night and of course all your home baked munchies.  Package them wrapped in sizes to sell for 50 cents.  You can drop them off early that day at the library.  There will be sign-up sheets in Carnegie’s for both workers and “goodies.”  We will also be selling books.  Our reputation is at stake.  We count on your cooking expertise.

 

YOUR DUES AT WORK
In addition to the Summer Reading Programs, your ELF dues purchased the new comfortable chairs in the meeting room, prizes for the annual photo contest, poinsettias to decorate the library at Christmas, hygiene kits, staff t-shirts, and snacks for Carnegie’s.  YOU ARE IMPORTANT!
