What’s Scary at the Library October?

• We will be adding quite a few new Halloween and Horror DVD titles to our collection this month.  Some old classics, as well as modern cult favorites.  Grab some DVDs and get scared!

• Owls aren’t really scary, but they are pretty cool.  On Thursday, October 1st at 7:00 pm, join us for a great presentation on the Great Horned Owls in our area (no registration required).

• Have you ever heard of the “Blood Countess?”  Learn about Hungary’s Elizabeth Bathory, a 16th century inspiration for Bram Stoker’s Dracula.  You didn’t want to get on her bad side.  No registration required for this program on Monday, October 26th from 7:00 - 8:30.

• We’ve got scary movies in store for our October Wednesday “movie nights” for adults on the 7th, 14th, and 21st.  Call the library for titles: 618-692-7556 (we can publish here because of licensing restrictions).

• The Youth Department will have several seasonal activities and programs – check our calendar at www.edwardsvillelibrary.org and click on our “Events & Activities” button.

New Self-Checkout Station!

We have a new self-checkout station!  If you just want a quick checkout or renew (cannot be used for financial transactions, check-ins, or holds), all you need is your library card.  More and more patrons are giving it a try every day -- it’s quick and easy and we’re here to show you how.

12th Annual Photo Contest:

Our 12th Annual Photo Contest will get underway in October.  Submissions will be accepted from October 5th - November 2nd.  A rule sheet is available at the library.
