Stuffed Animal Sleepover

Children, ages 4-8, are invited to drop off their stuffed animals on Friday, January 24, between 3:30-5 p.m., at Rodman Library Branch for a stuffed animal sleepover. A short storytime with a craft will begin at 4:30 p.m. After craft time, the children will say good night to their stuffed pets and go home. During the night, photo updates of the animals’ activities will be posted on social media.

On Saturday morning, January 25, at 9:15 a.m., children will return to the Branch Library, with an accompanying adult, for a breakfast of donuts and cocoa or SunnyD with their stuffed friends. This is a free event, but limited to the first 12 children. Registration is required. To register, please call the Branch Library at 330-821-1313.

Wee Read Resumes

Beginning on Monday, January 14, Wee Read returns from holiday break. Wee Read is offered every Monday evening at 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m.

Children, ages birth through two years, and their parents or caregivers are invited to attend. Wee Read includes stories, fingerplays, music and movement.

Family Fun Night Resumes

Beginning on Tuesday, January 14, Family Fun Night returns from holiday break. Each Tuesday of the month at 6:30 p.m., parents or caregivers are invited to participate in an entertaining evening with their preschool and school-aged children in Rodman Main Children’s Department.

For children ages 3 to 5, Storytime will offer music, interaction and stories. During this same time, all school-aged children will share in their own fun activities that are based on the S.T.E.A.M. program. No registration is needed. 

Morning Storytime, for ages 3-5, will also return from holiday break beginning on January 23, at 10:30 a.m., and continuing every Thursday morning. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 223. 

The Mysterious Howling by Maryrose WoodChapter Chat Book Club

Chapter Chat Book Club is for ages 8 to 12, and meets on the second Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is Wednesday, January 8, at 4:15 p.m., with a book discussion, games and activities.

The Mysterious Howling, by Maryrose Wood, is January’s book. Registration is required for a four-week checkout of a selected title one month in advance. To register, or for more information, call the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Penguin Storytime with Hot Pots

Children, ages 3-12, are invited to Rodman Branch Library for a Penguin Storytime on Wednesday, January 22, at 6:30 p.m., or Saturday January 25, at 11:00 a.m.

A story will be read first at the library, then children and their guardian will proceed to Hot Pots to paint a cute penguin pottery figure. Snacks will be offered.

The cost is $10.00, payable to Hot Pots before the event. Registration is required and can be made at https://hotpotspottery.com/ or by phone at 330-823-3333.

Toddler Tuesday with Hot Pots

Children, ages up to three years old, are invited to Rodman Branch Library on Tuesday, January 14, at 10:30 a.m.

A story will be read first at the library, then children and an accompanying adult will proceed to Hot Pots Pottery to paint a cute snowman dish perfect for cereal or snacks. Fingerprints will make a snowflake blizzard on the outside of the bowl. Create a lasting artful memory of your time together.

The cost is $15.00, payable to Hot Pots before the event. Registration is required and can be made at https://hotpotspottery.com/ or by phone at 330-823-3333.

Ongoing Programs at Rodman Public Library

Join us for one of our ongoing programs at Rodman Public Library. For specific dates and times, please check our monthly calendar of events.

Wee Read, ages birth through two years - Meets at the Main Library Monday evenings from 6:30-7:00 p.m. and Wednesday mornings at the Main Library from 10:30-11:00 a.m. Wee Read introduces children to books, fingerplays and music incorporating the six early learning skills. Wee Read resumes January 13.

Morning Storytime, ages 3-5 - Meets at the Main Library on Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. It encourages life-long readers through stories and activities. Storytime resumes January 23.

Family Fun Night, preschool and school-aged children - For children ages 3 to 5, Storytime will offer music, interaction and stories. Chapter Chat now combines the individual Boys and Girls Clubs into one club for all children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. Tales for Tails - From January through May, meets the 3rd Saturday of the month from 1:00-3:00 p.m., in the Main Children's Program Room. Children try their reading skills on local therapy dogs that will "listen" to stories. Dogs in attendance are members of Therapy Dogs International and the "Paws and Reflect" Pet Therapy group of Alliance Community Hospital. Sign up in advance. Call 330-821-2665, ext. 223.
