20 sided diceDungeons and Dragons 101

Have you ever wanted to go on a quest to defeat a dragon? Teens, 12-18, can join us January 11 and 25 to learn how to play Dungeons and Dragons.

For those teens who have never played, on Saturday, January 11, from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Computer Lab, teens will create their characters. Teens must have a Gmail or Twitch account in order to create a character. On Saturday, January 25, from 12 to 5 p.m. in the Main Auditorium, teens will participate in a D&D campaign with their created characters. If a teen has played before, they still need to stop at the Reference Desk for character guidelines before Jan. 11, then turn in their completed characters by that date. Whether a teen has played before, or is just beginning, all are encouraged to attend both sessions.

Food will be provided on January 25, and new participants will receive a free set of dice to play with and take home. Space is limited to twelve participants and two alternates. Registration is required. To sign up, stop by the Information Desk at the Main Library or call 330-821-2665, ext. 211.

popcornTeen Movie Night

All teens, ages 13-18, are invited to see Men in Black: International, a free movie on RPL’s big screen in the auditorium on Tuesday, January 7, at 5:30 p.m. An international agency that has always guarded Earth from malevolent off-world aliens has discovered that a super weapon is hidden on Earth. Can they find it? Is there betrayal developing within the agency? The movie is rated PG-13. No registration is needed. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 214.

Teen Advisory

Those teens interested in having their voices heard, come to Rodman Main Auditorium on Monday, January 20, from 3:30-5:00 p.m. The Teen Advisory will meet on the third Monday of each month to help decide teen programming at the Library. This is a great opportunity for teens looking to do community service.  For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 214.

After-Hours Nerf Challenge

Teens, ages 12-18, are invited to join us at the Main Auditorium on Thursday, January 16, from 5 to 7 p.m., for an after-hours, Nerf Challenge event.

Teens are allowed to bring their Nerf weapons that follow the guidelines of the program. Guidelines include: Nerf weapons must be original colors (no paint or tape can obscure Nerf markings), the tips of the Nerf weapons cannot be tampered with in any manner, and all Nerf weapons will be tested before play. We reserve the right to ban any Nerf weapons deemed un-acceptable.

There will be a limited number of Nerf weapons on hand to use as well. Limited to 30 participants. Registration is required. Do you have Nerf weapons not being used but don’t want to just throw them away? Consider donating them. The Teen Department at the library is accepting gently used, working Nerf weapons for use at future Teen Nerf Challenges. To register or for more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 211, or go online at http://rodmanlibrary.evanced.info/signup.
