Polar Express Event for Kids

Get on board The Polar Express! Children and their family are invited to join the staff of Rodman Library’s Children’s Department as they whisk you off to the North Pole on Monday, December 2, at 6:30 p.m., OR Tuesday, December 3, at 6:30 p.m. The Polar Express, written by Chris Van Allsburg, will be read to all who attend. Be prepared for surprises along the way. Pajamas are encouraged, but not required.

Registration is needed. Each person attending must be signed up (children and adults). Family Christmas Program

Rodman Public Library will be hosting a Christmas Program in the Main Auditorium on Saturday, December 14, at 2:00 p.m. The Choralaires, Alliance High School’s a cappella group, will perform festive holiday music for the families. Mr. and Mrs. Claus will also stop by to meet the children and have their picture taken with them. Refreshments will be available. The program is open to all ages. No reservations are needed. Support for this program has been provided through a donation from the Friends of the Library. For more information, call the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Chapter Chat Book Club

Chapter Chat Book Club is for ages 8 to 12, and meets on the second Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is Wednesday, December 11, at 4:15 p.m., with a book discussion, games and activities.

Quinny and Hopper by Adriana Brad SchanenQuinny & Hopper, by Adriana Brad Schanen, is December's book.

Registration is required for a four-week checkout of a selected title one month in advance. To register, or for more information, call the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Children's Christmas Craft 

Christmas CraftChildren will have fun creating their own pinecone Christmas tree and tealight snowman ornaments, then taking it home! Mark your calendar for Wednesday, December 4, at 4 p.m., in the Children’s Program Room at the Main Library. All supplies will be furnished. Make one or both items. This is a free event open to children, ages 6-12.

Space is limited to 20 participants. Registration is needed. Patrons may sign up the child using the online calendar at https://rodmanlibrary.evanced.info/signup, or by calling the Children's Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223. This program is sponsored by the Friends of Rodman Library.

 

Toddler Tuesday with Hot Pots

Snowman PlaqueChildren, ages up to three years old, are invited to Rodman Branch Library on Tuesday, December 10, at 10:30 a.m. A story will be read first at the library, then children and an accompanying adult will proceed to Hot Pots Pottery to paint a snowman footprint plaque.

Each monthly project will include finger, hand or foot prints to create a lasting artful memory of your time creating together. The cost is $15.00, payable to Hot Pots before the event. Registration is required and can be made at https://hotpotspottery.com/ or by phone at 330-823-3333. 

Jolly Elf Storytime with Hot Pots

Jolly ElfChildren, ages 3-12, are invited to Rodman Library Branch for a Jolly Elf Storytime on Wednesday, December 18, at 6:30 p.m., or Saturday, December 21, at 11:00 a.m. A story will be read first at the library, then children and their guardian will proceed to Hot Pots Pottery to paint a jolly elf ceramic figurine. Snacks will be offered. The cost is $10.00, payable to Hot Pots before the event. Registration is required and can be made at https://hotpotspottery.com/ or by phone at 330-823-3333.

Ongoing Kids' Programs

Ongoing Programs at Rodman Public Library

Join us for one of our ongoing programs at Rodman Public Library. For specific dates and times, please check our monthly calendar of events.

Wee Read will resume on Monday, Jan. 13, 2020, at 6:30 p.m., and Wednesday, Jan. 15.

Storytime will resume on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 6:30 p.m., and Thursday, Jan. 16, at 10:30 a.m.

Family Fun Night will resume on Tues., Jan. 14, at 6:30 p.m.

Chapter Chat now combines the individual Boys and Girls Clubs into one club for all children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. It includes a book discussion, games and activities, and meets monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 4:15 p.m. in the Children’s Program Room. Play Group allows children to make friends, play, and share stories on every third or fourth Saturday in the Children’s Program Room from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This play group is designed for children to learn, socialize, and explore through play. It is aimed for birth to kindergarten ages with an adult caregiver, but all are welcome. No registration is needed.

Tales for Tails - From January through May, meets the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of the month from 1:00-3:00 p.m., in the Main Children's Program Room. Children try their reading skills on local therapy dogs that will "listen" to stories. Dogs in attendance are members of Therapy Dogs International and the "Paws and Reflect" Pet Therapy group of Alliance Community Hospital. Sign up in advance. Call 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Tween Council is open to enthusiastic 4th to 6th graders who want to make a difference in the library. Tweens will meet monthly on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 4:15 p.m. to share ideas for upcoming programs, current trends, and what they and their peers are reading. Tween Council will meet in the Children’s Program Room and no registration is needed.
