Escape Room

A Series of Unfortunate Events Escape Room

Join us in the Children’s Department on Wednesday, October16, from 4 to 6 p.m., to escape from A Series of Unfortunate Events Escape Room. Working in teams of four to six players, children will be given 20 minutes to solve the puzzles and make their escape. Registration is needed for this event. Teams may be planned in advance, but it is not required. Participants may be assigned to a group upon registration. While waiting for the escape room, children will also have fun making a “book safe” craft. Refreshments will be available. To register, contact the Main Library’s Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223. This free program is supported by the Friends of Rodman Library.

Fall Make & Take at Branch

Adults and children are invited to the Branch Library for a fall craft afternoon to create a fabric covered pumpkin and a small yarn buddy. Make one or both, then take your fall craft home with you.

Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 12, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Branch Library. This event is open for two hours (or as long as supplies last), so feel free to stop in anytime during those hours.

This is a free event. All supplies will be furnished. No registration is needed. The Branch Library is located at 1808 W. State St. (in the Marketplace Plaza). For more information, call 330-821-1313.

Monster Mash Storytime with Hot Pots

Children, ages 3-12, are invited to Rodman Branch Library for a Monster Mash Storytime on Wednesday, October 16, at 6:30 p.m., or Saturday, October19, at 11:00 a.m.

A story will be read first at the library, then children and their guardian will proceed to Hot Pots Pottery to paint a monster-themed ceramic figure. Snacks offered. The cost is $10.00, payable to Hot Pots before the event. Registration is required and can be made at https://hotpotspottery.com/ or by phone at 330-823-3333.

Children's Halloween Party

The Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library will be hosting a Children’s Halloween Party on Saturday, October 19, from 2:00-3:00 p.m., in the library’s auditorium. This event will include lots of fun Halloween activities! The program is open to children and their family. Halloween costumes are optional but encouraged. No reservations are required. Chapter Chat Book Club for Kids

Chapter Chat Book Club is for ages 8 to 12, and meets on the second Wednesday of each month. The next meeting is Wednesday, October 9, at 4:15 p.m., with a book discussion, games and activities.

Toys Go Out “Toys Go Out,” by Emily Jenkins is October’s book. Registration is required for a four-week checkout of a selected title one month in advance. To register, or for more information, call the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Family Movie Night

Families are invited to see an animated movie, Toy Story 4, on Wednesday, October 23, at 6:00 p.m., in the Main Auditorium.

A new toy joins a gang of other toys when they begin a road trip that turns into an unforeseen reunion with an old friend.

Ongoing Kids' Programs

Ongoing Programs at Rodman Public Library

Join us for one of our ongoing programs at Rodman Public Library. For specific dates and times, please check our monthly calendar of events.

Wee Read Main Library, ages birth through two years - Meets at the Main Library every Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. and every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. Wee Read introduces children to books, fingerplays and music incorporating the six early learning skills.

Family Fun Night, preschool and school ages - Meets at the Main Library every Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. It encourages life-long readers through stories and activities based on the S.T.E.A.M. program.

Storytime Main Library, ages 3-5 - Meets at the Main Library every Thursday morning at 10:30 a.m. It encourages life-long readers through stories and activities.

Storytime Branch Library, ages 3-5 - Meets at the Branch Library every Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. It encourages life-long readers through stories and activities.

Chapter Chat now combines the individual Boys and Girls Clubs into one club for all children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. It includes a book discussion, games and activities, and meets monthly on the 2nd Wednesday of each month at 4:15 p.m. in the Children’s Program Room. Registration is required for a four-week checkout of a selected title one month in advance. To register, or for more information, call the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Play Group allows children to make friends, play, and share stories on every third or fourth Saturday in the Children’s Program Room from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This play group is designed for children to learn, socialize, and explore through play. It is aimed for birth to kindergarten ages with an adult caregiver, but all are welcome. No registration is needed.

Tales for Tails - From January through May, meets the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of the month from 1:00-3:00 p.m., in the Main Children's Program Room. Children try their reading skills on local therapy dogs that will "listen" to stories. Dogs in attendance are members of Therapy Dogs International and the "Paws and Reflect" Pet Therapy group of Alliance Community Hospital. Sign up in advance. Call 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Tween Council is open to enthusiastic 4th to 6th graders who want to make a difference in the library. Tweens will meet monthly on the 3rd Wednesday of the month at 4:15 p.m. to share ideas for upcoming programs, current trends, and what they and their peers are reading. Tween Council will meet in the Children’s Program Room and no registration is needed.
