Haines House

Haines House Program

Children, ages 6-12, are invited to experience a “hands-on” event at one of Alliance’s famous historical sites. On Saturday, February 16, from 10 a.m. to noon, children accompanied by an adult, will tour the Haines House Underground Railroad Museum, play parlor games, partake in reenactments, plus help with some old-fashioned cooking. This program will begin and end at the Haines House, so advanced registration is required. It is limited to 30 participants. Valentine's Storytime at Branch & Hot Pots

Valentine's heartChildren, ages 3-12, are invited to Rodman Branch Library for a Valentine Storytime on Wednesday, February 20, at 6:30 p.m., or Saturday, February 23, at 11:00 a.m. A story will be read first at the library, then children and their guardian will proceed to Hot Pots to paint a ceramic “Love Mug.” Snacks will be offered. The cost is $10.00, payable to Hot Pots before the event. Registration is required and can be made at https://hotpotspottery.com/ or by phone at 330-823-3333.

Rodman Library Hosts Family Movie Night

Ralph breaks the InternetFamilies are invited to see an animated movie, Ralph Breaks the Internet, on Wednesday, February 27, at 5:30 p.m., in Rodman Main Auditorium. Six years after saving the arcade, two friends must now travel through the wi-fi router to recover an item to save an arcade game. No registration is needed. Rated PG. Tween Council at RPL

Tween Council is open to enthusiastic 4th to 6th graders who want to make a difference in the library. Tweens will meet the third Wednesday of the month at 4:15 p.m., to share ideas for upcoming programs, current trends, and what they and their peers are reading. Tween Council will meet in the Children’s Program Room and no registration is needed. For more information, call the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223

Chapter Chat Children's Book Club

When you reach meA new book club for children, Chapter Chat, combines the individual Boys and Girls Clubs into one club for all children between the ages of 8 and 12 years old. The next meeting is Wednesday, February 13, at 4:15 p.m. It includes a book discussion, games and activities, and meets on the second Wednesday of each month. February’s book is When You Reach Me, by Rebecca Stead. Registration is required for a four-week checkout of a selected title one month in advance. Children's Play Group at Rodman

Play timeMake friends, play, and share stories on every third or fourth Saturday in the Children’s Program Room from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. This play group is designed for children to learn, socialize, and explore through play. It is aimed for birth to kindergarten ages with an adult caregiver, but all are welcome. No registration is needed. Please check our online calendar for dates at www.rodmanlibrary.com/calendar. Ongoing Programs at Rodman Public Library

Join us for one of our ongoing programs at Rodman Public Library. For specific dates and times, please check our monthly calendar of events.

 

Wee Read Main Library, ages birth through two years - Meets at the Main Library every Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. and every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m. Wee Read introduces children to books, fingerplays and music incorporating the six early learning skills.

Storytime Main Library, ages 3-5 - Meets at the Main Library every Tuesday evening at 6:30 p.m. and Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m. It encourages life-long readers through stories and activities.

Storytime Branch Library, ages 3-5 - Meets at the Branch Library every Tuesday morning at 10:30 a.m. It encourages life-long readers through stories and activities.

Tales for Tails - From January through May, meets the 2nd or 3rd Saturday of the month from 1:00-3:00 p.m., in the Main Children's Program Room. Children try their reading skills on local therapy dogs that will "listen" to stories. Dogs in attendance are members of Therapy Dogs International and the "Paws and Reflect" Pet Therapy group of Alliance Community Hospital. Sign up in advance. Call 330-821-2665, ext. 223.
