Halloween fun

Annual Kids' Halloween Party

The Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library will be hosting a Children’s Halloween Party on Saturday, October 27, from 2:00-3:00 p.m., in the library’s auditorium.

This event will include lots of fun Halloween activities! The program is open to children and their family. Halloween costumes are optional but encouraged.

Kids' Make & Take Pumpkin Decorating at Branch

Children, celebrate the fall season with your own small pumpkin to paint, decorate and take home. Mark your calendar for Saturday, October 6, from 2 to 4 p.m., at the Branch Library. All supplies will be furnished. This is a free event open to children of all ages. No registration is needed. The Branch Library is located at 1808 W. State St. (in the Marketplace Plaza). Lil Pumpkin Storytime at Branch with Hot Pots

Children, ages 3-12, are invited to Rodman Branch Library for a Lil Pumpkin Storytime on Wednesday, October 17, at 6:30 p.m., or Saturday, October 20, at 11:00 a.m.

A story will be read first at the library, then children and their guardian will proceed to Hot Pots to paint a cute pumpkin ceramic luminary. Snacks will be offered. The cost is $10.00, payable to Hot Pots before the event.

Just for Girls Book Club

Bunnicula: A Rabbit Tale of MysteryGirls, ages 8-12, are invited to meet in the Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library for the Just for Girls Book Club. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month from 4:15-5:00 p.m. The next meeting is October 17, and includes a book discussion, games and other activities.

The book for the month is Bunnicula: A Rabbit-tale of Mystery, by Deborah and James Howe. Children must be able to read on a 4-6 grade reading level. Participants have a four-week checkout of a selected title one month in advance.

Registration is required. Participants need not attend all sessions. For more information or to register, call 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Just for Boys Book Club

SasquatchBoys, ages 8-12, are invited to meet in the Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library for the Just for Boys Book Club. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month from 4:15-5:00 p.m. The next meeting is October 10, and includes a book discussion, games and other activities.

The book for the month is Sasquatch, by Roland Smith. Children must be able to read on a 4-6 grade reading level. Participants have a four-week checkout of a selected title one month in advance.

Saturday Morning Movie for Children

Children of all ages are invited to see an animated movie, Nut Job 2: Nutty by Nature, on Saturday, October 6, from 10:00-11:30 a.m., in the Children’s Program Room.

A squirrel and his friends set out to stop a giant amusement park from being built when they discover their home will be destroyed in the process.

Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. No registration is needed. Rated PG. Call 330-821-2665, ext. 223, for more information.

Join us for one of our ongoing programs at Rodman Public Library. For specific dates and times, please check our monthly calendar of events.

Wee Read, ages birth through two years - Meets at the Main Library Monday evenings from 6:30-7:00 p.m., Wednesday mornings at the Main Library from 10:30-11:00 a.m., and Tuesday mornings at the Branch Library from 10:30-11:00 a.m.

Storytime, ages 3-5 - Meets at the Main Library on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m.; Branch library on Monday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

Lego Splash, children of all ages - From January through March, meets the 2nd Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m., and 2:00-3:00 p.m., in the Main Children's Program Room.

Boys’ Book Club, ages 8-12 - Meets the 2nd Wednesday at the Main Library from 4:15-5:00 p.m.
Girls’ Book Club, ages 8-12 - Meets the 3rd Wednesday at the Main Library from 4:15-5:00 p.m.
Both book clubs meet in the Main Children’s Program Room.

Tales for Tails - From January through May, meets the 3rd Saturday of the month from 1:00-3:00 p.m., in the Main Children's Program Room.
