Summer Reading Program for All Ages

“Libraries Rock” is the theme of Rodman Public Library’s 2018 Adult, Teens, and Children’s Summer Reading Program that begins on Tuesday, May 29, and runs through Saturday, July 28. The adult program is open to ages 18 and older. Adults may sign up for Summer Reading at the front desk of the Main or Branch Libraries and Bookmobile. One check out transaction per day of any library material qualifies for one ticket to be entered into a weekly drawing. One gift card (purchased from Alliance area local businesses) will be awarded to the week’s winner. A new weekly drawing starts over every week. The weekly prizes are provided courtesy of the Friends of Rodman Public Library.

Summer Art Gala

Family and friends are invited to join in the celebration as the Rodman Public Library Children’s Department wraps up its “Summer Art Experience” on Saturday, July 21, with an Art Gala from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Children, ages 5-13, have been working with local art instructors during June and July, creating a wide variety of art pieces.

The Art Gala will be open to the public. Artwork will be on display in the Main Auditorium, Gallery, and Children’s Program Room. Refreshments will be served. There will be a continuous slide show presentation in the Program Room of photographs taken during the art sessions.

This program was funded by the Kiwanis Club of Alliance, Alliance Quota Club, Alliance Rotary Club, and Hatherill Insurance, Inc. For more information, call the Children’s Department at 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Kids Make and Take at Branch

Children, celebrate the Summer Reading Program “Libraries Rock!” with your own “Egg Maracas” to make and take home. Mark your calendar for Saturday, July 28, from 1 to 3 p.m., at the Branch Library.

This event is open for two hours, so feel free to stop in anytime during those hours to make your creation. All supplies will be furnished – eggs, spoons, colored duct tapes, and beans. This is a free event open to children of all ages. No registration is needed. The Branch Library is located at 1808 W. State St. (in the Marketplace Plaza). For more information, call 330-821-1313.

 Just for Boys' Book Club

Because of Mr. TeruptBoys, ages 8-12, are invited to meet in the Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library for the Just for Boys Book Club. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month from 4:15-5:00 p.m. The next meeting is July 11, and includes a book discussion, games and other activities. The book for the month is Because of Mr. Terupt, by Rob Buyea. Children must be able to read on a 4-6 grade reading level. Participants have a four-week checkout of a selected title one month in advance. Registration is required. Participants need not attend all sessions. Just for Girls' Book Club

CrenshawGirls, ages 8-12, are invited to meet in the Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library for the Just for Girls Book Club. Meetings are held the third Wednesday of each month from 4:15-5:00 p.m. The next meeting is July 18, and includes a book discussion, games and other activities. The book for the month is Crenshaw, by Katherine Applegate. Children must be able to read on a 4-6 grade reading level. Participants have a four-week checkout of a selected title one month in advance. Registration is required. Participants need not attend all sessions. Minecraft for Kids

Minecraft on the iPad will be offered for children, ages 8-12, on Saturday, July 7, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m., in Rodman Main Auditorium. Participants will be given different tasks to complete at the beginning of the program, which will encourage teamwork and organization. The Minecraft Realms for iPads will be used for this program. iPads will be available for use. Up to ten children will have access to the iPads at a time. No sign up is required. Ice Cream Storytime with Hot Pots

Children, ages 3-12, are invited to Rodman Branch Library for an Ice Cream Storytime on Wednesday, July 25, at 6:30 p.m., or Saturday, July 28, at 11:00 a.m. A story will be read first at the library, then children and their guardian will proceed to Hot Pots to paint a ceramic ice cream bowl. Snacks will be offered. The cost is $10.00, payable to Hot Pots before the event. Registration is required and can be made at https://hotpotspottery.com/ or by phone at 330-823-3333.

Join us for one of our ongoing programs at Rodman Public Library. For specific dates and times, please check our monthly calendar of events.

Wee Read, ages birth through two years - Meets at the Main Library Monday evenings from 6:30-7:00 p.m., Wednesday mornings at the Main Library from 10:30-11:00 a.m., and Tuesday mornings at the Branch Library from 10:30-11:00 a.m.

Storytime, ages 3-5 - Meets at the Main Library on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m.; Branch library on Monday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

Lego Splash, children of all ages - From January through March, meets the 2nd Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m., and 2:00-3:00 p.m., in the Main Children's Program Room.

Boys’ Book Club, ages 8-12 - Meets the 2nd Wednesday at the Main Library from 4:15-5:00 p.m.
Girls’ Book Club, ages 8-12 - Meets the 3rd Wednesday at the Main Library from 4:15-5:00 p.m.
Both book clubs meet in the Main Children’s Program Room.

Tales for Tails - From January through May, meets the 3rd Saturday of the month from 1:00-3:00 p.m., in the Main Children's Program Room.
