Scan and Share Day

Rodman Public Library and the Alliance Historical Society are looking for historical photos to expand Alliance Memory online and research materials for the historical archives. We invite you to look through your old photographs and slides to help in this endeavor. Scan & Share Day will take place on Wednesday, Aug. 15, from 2 to 6 p.m., in the main auditorium of Rodman Public Library, 215 E. Broadway St., Alliance, Ohio.

Four scanning stations will be available that will be manned by library staff. One will be self-service for those who want to scan family or personal photos that don’t fill the requirements for use on Alliance Memory or for permanent storage in the Historical Society files. At the other three stations staff will scan an archival resolution image for Alliance Memory and save a high-quality jpeg version for the patron. The images for the patron will be saved to a flash drive and given to the patron at no cost as a thank you for sharing their photos. Patrons may bring their own flash drive if they wish.

There is a limit of 20 photos if dropping in to the event to scan – first come, first served. If patrons have more than 20 photos to scan, we ask that an appointment be made. For those who are in town for the Carnation Festival and want to contribute, they may leave photos at the library and we will return them. This is your chance to have your organization, business, or activities remembered. To schedule an appointment, or for additional information, call Karen Perone at 330-821-2665, ext. 101.
