Summer Art Program

2018 Summer Art Experience Sign-Up

Official registration for the 2018 “Summer Art Experience” for children is now open. Applications may be picked up at the Main or Branch Libraries. This will be the seventh year for this popular program. Designed for children ages 6-13, participants register for a total of three free art classes over a six-week period, utilizing various art techniques taught by local art instructors. Class dates will be on Monday afternoons from June 11-July 16, or Tuesday afternoons from June 12-July 17. After successful completion of classes, children will receive art supplies to take home. Funding this year is provided with the generosity of The Alliance Kiwanis Club, Alliance Quota Club, Alliance Rotary Club, and Hatherill Insurance, Inc. Movie Popcorn

Saturday Morning Movie for Kids

Children of all ages are invited to an animated movie on Saturday, April 7, from 10:00-11:30 a.m., in the Children’s Program Room. An aspiring young musician dreams of becoming as good as his idol, but his family has an ancestral ban on music. Mysterious events lead him to the colorful Land of the Dead where he discovers the real story about his great-great-grandfather who was a celebrated singer.

Children under 10 years of age must be accompanied by an adult. No registration is needed. Rated PG. Call 330-821-2665, ext. 223, for more information.

Just for Boys' Book Club

The Stonekeeper by Kazu KibuishiBoys, ages 8-12, are invited to meet in the Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library for the Just for Boys’ Book Club. Meetings are held the second Wednesday of each month from 4:15-5:00 p.m. The next meeting is April 11, and includes a book discussion, games and other activities. The book for the month is Amulet, by Kazu Kibuishi. Children must be able to read on a 4-6 grade reading level.

Participants have a four-week checkout of a selected title one month in advance. Registration is required. Participants need not attend all sessions. For more information or to register, call 330-821-2665, ext. 223.

Starring Jules (as herself) by Beth Levine AinGirls, ages 8-12, are invited to meet in the Children’s Department at Rodman Public Library for the Just for Girls’ Book Club. Butterfly

Butterfly Storytime with Hot Pots

Children, ages 3-12, are invited to Rodman Branch Library for a Butterfly Story Hour on Wednesday, April 18, at 6:30 p.m. or Saturday, Apr. 21, at 11:00 a.m. A story will be read first at the library, then children and their guardian will proceed to Hot Pots to paint a ceramic butterfly. Snacks will be offered. The cost is $10.00, payable to Hot Pots before the event. Registration is required and can be made at https://hotpotspottery.com/ or by phone at 330-823-3333.

It's a mystery

Spy Academy for Kids at RPL

Kids, join in the fun at Rodman Library and learn how to become a “Secret Agent!” On Saturday, April 28, from 2 to 3 p.m., we will show you how to dust for fingerprints, decode secret messages, use detecting methods to identify and examine evidence, and MORE. If you like, you may wear your favorite secret agent costume. Parents or guardians may bring cameras to take pictures.

Wee Read, ages birth through two years - Meets at the Main Library Monday evenings from 6:30-7:00 p.m., Wednesday mornings at the Main Library from 10:30-11:00 a.m., and Tuesday mornings at the Branch Library from 10:30-11:00 a.m.

Storytime, ages 3-5 - Meets at the Main Library on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. and Thursday mornings at 10:30 a.m.; Branch library on Monday mornings at 10:30 a.m. and Thursday evenings at 6:30 p.m.

Lego Splash, children of all ages - From January through March, meets the 2nd Saturday from 10:00-11:00 a.m., and 2:00-3:00 p.m., in the Main Children's Program Room.
