Ambushed in Alliance

'Ambushed in Alliance' explores 1921 mystery

“Ambushed In Alliance: Who Killed Dr. O.C. Walker” will delve into the  unsolved 1921 murder of a prominent physician  in two sessions – one at 11 a.m. and another at 7 p.m. -- on Oct. 25. The program, presented by Rodman Public Library Community Relations Specialist Jack R. Weber Jr.,  will explore the investigation from 100 years ago, the theories as to who did it, the major suspects in the case and the gossip of the day surrounding the major players in the tragedy.

Ghosts of the Civil War

'Ghosts of the Civil War' visit RPL Oct. 6

Largely Literary Theater Company co-founders Sara Showman (from the South) and Mark Dawidziak (from the North) will examine the War Between the States with a mixture of haunting tales, literary selections, song and history when they visit Rodman Public Library’s Main Auditorium at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 6 to present “The Ghosts of the Civil War: Shades of Blue and Gray.” The program is presented by Alliance’s Civil War-era historic home, the Haines House Underground Railroad Museum.

Meet the Ghosts of Ohio

Paranormal investigator to visit RPL on Oct. 18

Just in time for Halloween, author and paranormal investigator James A. Willis will give some insight into ghost hunting when he presents “Meet The Ghosts of Ohio” at 7:00 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 18 in the Rodman Public Library Auditorium.

Led by Ashley Mock, the True Crime Junkies book discussion group will hold its inaugural meeting at 6:30 p.m. on  Tuesday, Oct. 19 when the selection will be  I’ll Be Gone in the Dark: One Woman’s Obsessive Search for the Golden State Killer by Michelle McNamara.

Adult D&D Club forming

Get out your dice and miniatures. There's a new D&D club in town. Under the guidance of Game Master Matt Ross-Jones, a new Dungeons & Dragons club for adults will meet from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. every first Wednesday of the month, beginning Oct. 6, in the Main Library conference room.

Felt candy corn garland

Maker Monday 

Maker Monday crafters  will create a felt candy corn garland when they meet Monday, Oct. 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the Main Library. All materials will be provided free of charge, but space is limited and registration is required for each session. To register for Maker Monday sessions, call 330-821-2665, ext. 107, or visit Rodman Public Library’s online calendar. The program is supported by the Friends of Rodman Library.

Westering Women

Books & Coffee

Rodman Public Library invites you to join our Books and Coffee Book Club every second Monday of the month. The next book club meeting will be on Monday, Oct. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at Rodman Branch Library. The selected title will be Westering Women by Sandra Dallas. Copies are available at the Main and Branch libraries, through the library’s catalog, or digitally through the Ohio Digital Library and Hoopla. For more information, call 330-821-1313.

RPL Evening Book Club

The RPL Evening Book Club meets at 6:00 p.m. on the fourth Monday of each month at the Main Auditorium. The selection for Oct. 25 will be The Rose Code by Kate Quinn. For more information, call 330-821-2665, ext. 107.

Vinyl Club

Alliance Vinyl Club

Do you collect vinyl records and enjoy listening to your favorites with like-minded people? Join the Alliance Vinyl Club on Wednesday, Oct. 20 at 6:30 p.m. in the Main Auditorium at Rodman Public Library where you can spin your favorite records. Due to time limitations, only a few selections per person will be played. A turntable will be provided, but we ask that you handle your personal records and assume any liability for normal wear and scratches. Alliance Vinyl Club, which will meet every third Wednesday of the month, provides the opportunity to listen to music, talk and hang out. No registration is required. Tech Time

Tech Time Thursday

Rodman Public Library offers Tech Time Thursday in the Main Library computer lab from 11 a.m. to noon each Thursday. During Tech Time Thursday, a librarian is on hand to answer basic questions about your computer or electronic devices, such as iPhones and Android devices, laptops and tablets.  No registration is needed. For more information, call the Main Library at 330-821-2665, ext. 217. 

For those who may need more help with questions regarding electronic devices, genealogical research or any other basic research, Rodman Public Library offers Book a Librarian. Patrons can schedule a one-hour block of time with a staff member who will assist in such endeavors. Appointments can be made by calling the Main Library at 330-821-2665, ext. 217.
