2020 Summer Reading Program

“Imagine Your Story” is the theme of Rodman Public Library’s 2020 Adult, Teen, and Children’s Summer Reading Program.  The program is now underway and runs through Saturday, August 1. This year, participants will register and track their reading online. All participants, regardless of age, may sign up online at https://rodmanlibrary.beanstack.org/ or by downloading the Beanstack app.

The adult program is open to ages 18 and older.  Adults who participate and read at least one book will be automatically entered into that week’s drawing for a $25 Amazon gift card.  Additional entries will be given for each additional book read in each week. All who participate in the program will be entered into a Grand Prize drawing for a $100 Amazon gift card.

Children who read for six hours will earn a paperback book, restaurant coupons, and will also be entered into a drawing to win a Grand Prize bag at the end of the program. Children will gain additional entries into Grand Prize drawings for each week that one hour of reading is completed, as well as for completion of the ten summer activity challenges.  They will have free choice of the books, magazines, audiobooks, and ebooks (ex. Tumblebooks and Axis 360) they wish to read or listen to.

Prize Bags

Teens, ages 12-18, who complete 20 hours of reading will receive a paperback book and a summer-themed prize. Teens who complete five additional hours will be entered into the drawing for a Grand Prize basket. Entries into the Grand Prize drawings will be earned for each week that three hours of reading is completed per week, as well as for each correctly answered weekly challenge question.  Grand prizes include $100 gift cards for Amazon, Gamestop, and Walmart.

Drive-Thru Service Continues

Rodman Public Library’s Drive-Thru service and Reference service at the Main Library will continue in June. The times for this service will remain the same:

  • Monday-Wednesday 1:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.
  • Thursday-Saturday 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

To use our Drive-Thru service, start by requesting library materials. You may do this by using our online catalog, https://roc.rodmanlibrary.com, or by calling the library at 330-821-2665 with a valid library card.

If you place your request by calling the library, plan to have a day and time in mind for when you would like to pick up your items. We ask that you give staff at least a day to get your items ready.

If you place your request through our online catalog, the staff will contact you when your items are ready for pickup. The automated hold notifications have been disabled during this time.

The items will be checked out to you the day that you will pick them up and placed in a bag with your receipt attached to the bag.

When you arrive at the Main Library, drive into the bookmobile garage from the High Street entrance and the door facing Arch Avenue. Signs will assist you in finding the entrance. Once inside the garage, roll down your passenger’s window. The staff member will verify your pickup and place the bag directly into your trunk or through the passenger window. Stay in your car during the transaction.

Please note that items from the Rodman Branch or Louisville Public Library may take longer to arrive. SearchOhio and OhioLINK are not accepting requests at this time.

Returned items will not be accepted through the drive-thru and must be returned via the drive-up book return on the east side of the Main Library. The book return at the Branch Library will remain closed during this time. This procedure will prevent any contact, keeping both our staff and you safe.

Donations for the Friends of Rodman Library are not being accepted at this time.

While we look forward to re-opening as usual, we know that Governor DeWine and the Ohio Dept. of Public Health is urging limitations on public gathering. We continue to work towards adding services gradually, including re-opening our buildings and resuming Bookmobile routes, in a way that will keep our staff and our community as safe as possible. Please be sure to watch for updates on the library’s website at www.rodmanlibrary.com.We encourage everyone to continue to use our digital services, and we look forward to seeing you through the Drive-Thru Service.
