Gutter Replacement Nears Completion

Horch Roofing and The Heritage Company are wrapping up their work on the back of the library, replacing the gutters to ameliorate a leakage problem. In the coming month they will replace the gutters and snow guards on the front of the library to complete the job. Horch Roofing has donated a substantial portion of their fee to the Library, which makes the project look even better! Thank you, Horch Roofing! HAV Donates Disk-Cleaner

Upon closing the store, HAV II has donated their disk-cleaning equipment to the library. Thank you, Caroline and Wayne Morong! The professional-quality disk cleaner will enable the library to extend the life of our CD and DVD collections and offer superior playback from the disks..

Film “The Simulation Hypothesis” May 26,

The Camden Philosophical Society will continue its 2016 Film, Lecture, and Discussion Series with “The Simulation Hypothesis,” by Kent Forbes, on Thursday, May 26, at 7:00 pm. Simply Books! is the library’s book group designed for book lovers. There’s no set reading list, we don’t all read the same book, and it’s very informal. Hypnotism Demonstration with Nat Lawson May 29, 2:00 pm

Nat Lawson will perform a demonstration of hypnotism on Sunday, May 29, at 2:00 pm in the Picker Room. All are welcome. Lawson, who is a senior at Camden Hills Regional High School, has been giving professional-quality presentations on “mentalism” for several years, and is expanding his expertise into hypnotism. “Solar Options” May 31, 7:00 pm

The Camden Energy Committee will host a presentation on “Two Energy Options: Solar and Efficiency” at the Camden Public Library on Tuesday, May 31, at 7:00 pm. The Energy Committee has invited representatives from Sundog Solar, Evergreen Home Performance, and ReVision Energy to present the technical and economic factors involved in improving building efficiency and generating solar power. The talk is very timely, considering the recent veto of the solar legislation by the governor. The veto means that Maine’s solar options remain unchanged only in the near term. The panel will cover in general the two broad paths that individuals, businesses, and non-profits can take to self-sufficiency: building solar capability or increased building performance and efficiency. The annual Songwriter's Coffeehouse will be on Thursday, June 2, at 7:00 pm. The Camden Public Library maintains a year-round tradition of live music, usually folk and acoustic, on the first Thursday of the month, at the Library Coffeehouse. Paul Leeper, Executive Director of the Megunticook Watershed Association (MWA), will present an illustrated talk on “Protecting the Megunticook Watershed” on the LakeSmart and Watershed Stewards Programs on Tuesday evening, June 7, at 7:00 pm. The LakeSmart program offers free opportunities for homeowners to learn how to manage their home and yard to protect the water quality of their lake or pond. Destination Wellness Midcoast Maine (DWMM) will present a Brown Bag Lunch talk, “Healing the Heart Through Writing,” with Kathrin Seitz, MFA, on Monday, June 13, at 12:00 noon. Studies have shown that when people are given the opportunity to write about physical and emotional upheavals, they often experience improved health and come away with a deeper understanding and affection for who they are. The next chapter in the Mike Bowditch saga will be released on June 14, 2016! Widowmaker is the next book in Paul Doiron’s gripping series featuring Maine game warden Mike Bowditch.
