Kerry Hardy will give an illustrated talk on “Old Roads Revisited” on Thursday, October 27, at 7:00 pm. Hardy explores, on foot and by books, maps, and online resources, the old native trails which became the settlers’ roads, and then our modern highways. Hardy will take a look at the earliest roads between Belfast and Thomaston, as well as a brief introduction to the various tools available to help sort them out — town histories, old military and topo maps, LIDAR, field work, and more. Pumpkin Palooza October 27, 7:00 pm
Come to our annual Pumpkin Palooza! We will be showing off jack-o-lanterns on the steps in the Amphitheatre in a collective showing of glowing pumpkins. The Palooza will be after dark, at 7:00 pm on Thursday, October 27. Drop off your pumpkin in the children’s garden any time that day. All ages and carving talents welcome and encouraged to participate. This is a great way for more people to enjoy your jack-o-lantern! Take your pumpkin home right after the event. .

You are invited to a no-pressure, informative community presentation to learn all about Medicare, get answers to all of your questions, and learn about the benefits of a plan from United Healthcare. Bring neighbors, and bring your questions! The purpose of the meetings is to inform and educate the attendees about their choices when becoming a Medicare member, and to answer questions, specifically about Medicare Advantage Plans with United Healthcare; enrollments will not be taken at the meetings. The Midcoast Stroke Support Group will meet on Wednesday, November 2, at 10:00 am. “A Place Called Humbravana” by Imero Gobbato, Gallery Talk November 5, 2:00 pm
The library will host an exquisite exhibit of the work of Imero Gobbato, “A Place Called Humbravana,” during the month of November. “An Introduction to Humbravana” will be presented by Gobbato’s friend and studio assistant, Rose Willson, on Saturday, November 5, at 2:00 pm. Originally from Italy, Imero Gobbato was an imaginative, talented, and prolific artist who lived and worked in Camden for many years. All his life he created paintings, drawings, prints, carvings, boats, models, and music. He is best known for his highly collected, light-filled paintings, reflecting his love of the rocky shores of Mid-Coast Maine. As an illustrator of children’s books, he also attracted a following of admirers who still cherish the whimsical storybook characters he brought to life.
